Soul Book 2018 #2 – Soul Book Landing Page!

Good evening!

Today’s Soul Book video is about 3 things, decorating the Soul Book opening landing page, writing a letter to your future self, and creating a vision board translation tip in from last week’s vision board exercise.

The landing page is the very first page you see when you open your Soul Book. This is the area I like to put positive images, thoughts, and things that make me happy, so I can see them as soon as I open my Soul book! I also like to include an envelope on this landing page. In this envelope I put a letter written to my future self, to be opening the first day of next year. This letter is me telling my future self what an awesome year 2018 turned out to be. I love doing this practice, because then when the first day of the next year comes along, I get to open and read the letter and see just how much of my past thoughts actually came to fruition, and what I still need to be working on!

The last thing that I did for this spread was I went back to last week’s vision board, and asked myself a few questions about the type of woman that would lead a life that the photos and words that I selected embodied (AKA me, hopefully)! ๐Ÿ™‚ I took the answers to these prompts and created a tip-in that is attached to my Soul Book’s landing page. I chose to do a tip-in because I wanted to be able to see my translation whenever I work on any of my future Soul Book pages, and having this mini page able to be tipped-in or out, will let me do just that!

Materials used:

  • A sketch book to use as my Soul Book (Here is the link to the one I get every year)
  • Magazines (I used mostly O magazines, because they are filled with positivity)
  • Images printed from Pinterest
  • Tombo permanent adhesive tape strip
  • Uhu glue stick (my fave)
  • Stickers
  • Washi tape
  • Watercolor paper
  • Decorative craft paper
  • Scissors, or course
  • Envelope with a blank decorative card
  • Various pens (completely optional, but excellent if you decide to do any doodling around any of your images)

The prompts I used were:

My Soul Book

for

healing, dealing, documenting,

creating, imagining, planning,

doodling, writing, meditating,

brainstorming, organizing, learning,

& anything else my creative little heart desires!

My Personal Vision

Soul Book 2018 #1 – Vision Board

Good morning!

I know I am a bit late in getting this post published – a few weeks late to be exact, but my goal here is to be of service, and I realize that it might be very helpful to those of you who watch my YouTube videos to have a place where you can go to find which supplies I may have used on any of my Soul Book 2018 spreads. I also want to make sure that any prompts that I use are also available for you to use in your own Soul Books as well. Please note, that I do a lot of work to create these ideas, prompts and Soul Book spreads, so I would ask that if you do use any of these, that you please use them for your own personal use only. Thank you!

I decided to start my 2018 Soul Book creating my yearly vision board. I thought this would be a good place to start because I had been in a bit of a creativity rut, and cutting images and words out of magazines seemed like a really easy way to start to get some creative mojo back again.

Materials used:

  • A sketch book to use as my Soul Book (Here is the link to the one I get every year)
  • Magazines (I used mostly O magazines, because they are filled with positivity)
  • Uhu glue stick (my fave)
  • Scissors, or course
  • A black pen (completely optional, but excellent if you decide to do any doodling around your vision board images)
  • A good classic movie (I always create my vision board while having a great movie playing in the background!)

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know in the comments section! I am always happy to be of help!!

Now it is your turn to get creating in your Soul Book!

Here is to having some fun!

Vision Board for 2013!

Good morning!

For as long as I can remember, I have always been an avid dreamer! Dreaming about my future and what God was going to do in my life, and through my life. Who I would meet, where I would live, what kind of job would I have, where would I travel, what new skills would I learn, and what kind of adventures would I go on.

Sometimes when life would get tough, one of my favorite things to do, back when I was much younger, and money was really tight, I remember I would sit with a copy of the JC Penney catalog (do you remember those?) and I would thumb through that massive catalog writing down everything and anything that I wanted to see in my life. Sometimes my finished list would contain things as simple as a particular couch that I thought would be snuggly to cuddle and watch movies in, or maybe it would be a fabulous new dress to wear on the perfect day out, or it might have even been as profound as wanting to travel the world in search of the purpose of my life.

Nowadays, I do not write too many life lists, although I do still have one MASSIVE list that I update around my birthday every year. I have taken up the practice of creating a Vision board for my life every year! Vision boards are a way that I can visually see everything and anything that I want to see manifest in my life every year.

In 2011, my visibility board revolved around finding my soul sisters. A close group of intimate girlfriends that I could relate and connect with, share my dreams and sorrows with, and really just find opportunities to reach out and find people to share our joys with.

2012’s visibility board seemed to focus more on me developing a sense of personal fashion, beauty, style, and really becoming more comfortable in my own skin.

This year’s board, I am noticing a new trend as I study the seemingly random pictures that I chose to compile on my board. It looks to me like 2013 is the year that I am going to truly embrace my creativity and actively take actions to move towards making a living doing what I love and am passionate about, which is empowering women to become the best of themselves, while using art as a way to truly listen to what our souls are saying to us.

I can also see my growing love of a simple life, out in the country, enjoying a quality of life versus a quantity of life that was important to me in the past. I dream about spending time out in nature both by myself and with my loved ones, but I can also see as I look at this board, a strong, independent business woman who lives her life in the way that she chooses to on a daily basis, while generously loving all of the people who come in and out of her life.

This is a life that jazzes me to no end! I can’t wait to see what this year holds in store – I know God still has a lot of work to do with me yet, but I am sooooo ready for this amazingly exciting journey!!

As you take a look at my vision board for 2013, maybe you might be inspired to create one for yourself, and see what your soul is trying to tell you through your own seemingly random array of pictures. Once you have created your board, let me know in the comments section of this post, what is your vision board telling you???

Also, if you haven’t taken the opportunity yet, I would love to have you follow me on my adventures by hitting the “Subscribe” button in the right hand column! I promise, I have a bunch of new stuff heading your way!!

With that…

Here is to a FABULOUS day!! ;-)

A Night of Vision Boarding!

Good evening!

I have spent the past hour gathering pics from Polyvore to create an electronic Vision Board!!

The things that I am dreaming of is a passionate marriage, traveling, yoga, dancing, France, faith, family, friends, farm-living, photography, books, and a crystal chandelier for good measure!!

Anyway, I am getting back to journaling and time/goal management, which I realize are two different things, but I have found that since having not being consistent with these 2 things I have not been as happy as I normally am – not that I am sad, just not as happily as I could be! Nor am I getting as much done as I usually do! So, tomorrow morning, I am back to spending some time writing my morning pages, and I will have my to-do list written before I head to bed this evening!

Matter of fact, here it is:

  • At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise
  • Drink at least 2 liters of water
  • Take iron pill
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Eat a healthy lunch
  • Eat a healthy home-cooked dinner
  • Write morning pages
  • Morning skin care routine
  • Recycle at least 10 magazines
  • Do a load of dishes
  • 1/2 hour art studio clean
  • Put laundry away
  • Sweep floors
  • Spend at least 10 minutes meditating
  • Get in bed by9 pm

Ok, I think that list is long enough! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, I wanted to share some micro goals that I have come up with:

  1. Lose 7.6 pounds
  2. Finish cleaning art studio
  3. Make sure all books in this house have a place to “live”

These are small enough that they will get me closer to a few of my big goals, and they are small enough as to not be overwhelming! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS evening! ๐Ÿ˜‰

PS. I will “see” you Chunky Dunkers tomorrow evening, at about 7-ish!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You Have Your Vision Board, Now What?

Thank God it is Friday evening!! My stress level is so high, that my eye has started to twitch – NEVER A GOOD SIGN!! LOL! My go-live week, at work,ย  is technically over, BUT we have sooooo much work to do!!! I am going to have to work a little bit this weekend, but if it gets me even a little bit more caught up – it will be worth it!! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel – WHOO! HOO!!

On a completely different note a WAAAAY more UPLIFTING NOTE: I have been getting a lot of questions that go something like this, “Ok, I have created my vision board, now what???”

So I thought that I would take a some time to answer this question! Take your vision board, a pad of paper (or journal), a pen (or a bunch of different colored pens), and go find a comfortable place to sit and write. This part may take you a little while, but in my opinion it is one of the most important parts of making your images on your vision board come to fruition. Deciding what DIRECTION you want your life to go!!

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I donโ€™t much care where–” said Alice.
“Then it doesnโ€™t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“–so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, youโ€™re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
~Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

I know I have posted this before, but just for a refresher, here is my vision board:

Ok, so make sure you have your vision board out where you will be able to see it! Grab your blank piece of paper and write your name write in the smack dab middle of it!! Don’t write it too small – this is a mental representation of your presence in your own life – so make sure are visible!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next, while looking at your vision board, decide what are the top 5 or 6 things that will get you to the life that your vision board is describing??? Write those things in small descriptive sentences around your name.

Now is the fun part! On the back of this sheet of paper, you need to figure out what steps you would have to do to get each one of these goals. This may seem kind of tricky, but this is how I make this work for me:

Choose your first goal that you have written: I want to be fit, healthy, & vivacious!
Re-write it like this:ย  How can I be fit, health, & vivacious?

Then spend the next 10 minutes, 30 minutes, hour, day, week, or however long you want to give yourself just writing down ANYTHING & EVERYTHING that will make this goal a REALITY in your life!

Some of my list items could be:

  1. Exercise every day
  2. Eat more fruits and veggies
  3. See a nutritionist
  4. Get liposuction
  5. Have gastric-bypass
  6. Follow a specific diet plan
  7. Pray for a miracle
  8. Make exercise fun
  9. Take up an outdoor hobby like hiking
  10. Join walking club
  11. Get a physical trainer
  12. etc.
  13. etc.
  14. etc.

You get the idea – write IT ALL DOWN!! Not everything has to be realistic/feasible, but that crazy, zany idea might open your mind up to that ONE IDEA that clinches your mode to success!!!

Do this same thing for EACH of the goals that you have chosen!!! This may take you a while, matter-of-fact, I am sure that it will, but you are laying the FOUNDATION FOR YOUR FUTURE!!! So DON’T skimp on this step!!

WITH EVERYTHING IN ME – I KNOW YOU CAN MAKE THIS LIFE HAPPEN FOR YOU!!!

Let me know, in the comment section how this goes for you!! Even from afar, I am cheering you on!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!

My Vision Board

Good evening!

Tonight I had the opportunity to spend some more time with my sister, Alex! We spent the evening finishing up our design boards. Last Thursday, I promised you that as soon as I was done with it, I would take a picture of my design board and share it with you.

So, here it is…

Ok, so I am not sure how well you can see this, but I can explain the gist of what I am dreaming of for 2011.

If I had to narrow this vision board down to one word, it would be PEOPLE. More specifically friends and family. I want a small tight-knit-group of girlfriendsย  that I can let down my guard with and just be myself while going out making memories, and having a blast doing things that girlfriends do!!! I would love to have a baby, or at least get the ball rolling in that direction. I would love to travel with my sweetie to Europe. I want to have my own business dealing in beautiful home furnishings, to take a ton of photographs to share, and I want to go hiking, camping, and get out and be all around more athletic. I know, I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I have never had an outdoorsy bone in body, UNTIL NOW that is!!! Oh, yeah – how could I almost forget – I want my little farm, with it’s gardens and walking trails, and memories – you know, I WANT TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ok, no – too much responsibility, but I am sure you get the idea!! LOL!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I want to do everything and anything that feeds my soul.
I want to be the me that I was put on this earth to be,
in the time that I have been gifted.
Now is the perfect time!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do any of you have vision boards that you would be willing to share?? I would love to see some!! Let me know in the comments above! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sunday of Bliss!

Today has DEFINITELY been a Sunday of BLISS!! I knew when I woke up after sleeping in, next to my best friend, which I am blessed to be able to do every morning, that today was going to be a FABULOUS day!!!

While waiting for my sweetie to wake up, I got busy finishing theย  book, The Lost Symbol, which I did. That book was very interesting – probably Dan Brown’s most controversial book to date. Nothing I have ever read of his have ever caused me to change my beliefs, and of course his books are works of fiction, but Dan Brown writes in such a way that you are forced to think about what your reality and what you believe.

By the time I finished reading, my sweetie was also awake, and was too reading the same book himself. Next, we headed to the office, so that I could do some crafting, and Jason started looking for pictures for his vision board. Apparently the success that my sis and I had last week in creating our own vision board has inspired my sweetie to create a vision board of his own! That makes me EXTREMELY happy!!! I think visualizing your future is a very healthy thing, and ESSENTIAL to making your dreams come true!!!

Jason made us a delicious Italian dinner this evening, and he is TOTALLY in his ZONE cooking, baking and trying out new recipes!! I really LOVE that man!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Right now, I am watching a documentary about dreams, as in sleeping and dreams. Apparently 2 Nobel Prizes, and countless medical breakthroughs have come from things that people dreamed about while sleeping. It is rather fascinating! I didn’t realize that when you are in the stages of REM sleep, all of your muscles are absolutely relaxed, almost putting your body in something like a paralytic state, I never knew that! This documentary has inspired me to put a journal next to my bed so I can start writing my dreams down.

As for what is to come this week, I know I am going to be really busy this week at work. My co-worker and I are facing the 11th hour right before a very large 2 week go-live right now, and we have A LOT OF WORK TO DO BEFORE next Monday, which is the big go-live day!!! and I just remembered that I have a meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 am, so I had better make sure I get to bed early tonight!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for now, I am going to spend the rest of my evening spending time with my sweetie and continuing on with my Sunday of bliss!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Night of Vision Boarding!!

Good evening!!

I just got finished spending an EXTREMELY FUN evening vision boarding with my sis and niece!!! I am a firm believer in the power of vision boards. I think that is because a vision board forces you to think about what you want, make decisions about what is important enough to actually make the cut (hee! hee! hee!), and it causes you to spend time cutting, designing, and gluing a board that is completely and totally focused on your dreams! I don’t think that vision boards are magical in any way, but I do think that it helps your subconscious remember what you want, and in turn help you see signs that point you in the right direction to get those goals! Ok, maybe that does sound a little magical, but I know for me – they work!!

Here are some sample vision boards (note: these are not mine, I have found these from various sources on the web.) As soon as my new camera gets in, I will take pics of mine and give you a play-by-play!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Aren’t they just interesting?!?

I just LOVE looking at other peoples’ vision boards. They can tell you so much about people. What they value, want to experience, learn, do, be, have! I think vision boards are highly intriguing!! That might just be because I am highly curious and people really interest me. It is amazing how much time and effort people are willing to put into these things (including me)!!! BUT it is EVEN MORE AMAZING how helpful these AWESOME TOOLS are!!! They are so unique, and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT to the creator of the board. I would highly encourage you to get out some magazines, scissors, glue, a sheet of paper, and see what you can come up with for yourself!!

I can’t wait to be able to share mine with you! Soon, soon, soon!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Tired Thursday!

Good morning!

YAWN!!! I am soooo tired this morning!!! To say that I have not slept well, is quite the understatement! I am not sure what is wrong with me, but I have just been tossing and turning for a few nights in a row now! I am going to have to take something before bed tonight to help me sleep the whole night through!!!

As for today, however, I just KNOW that this is going to be a GREAT DAY!!! Today is the day my sis, Alex and her kiddos come over. Us girls are going to make VISION BOARDS, which you have to know – I JUST LOVE!!! WHOO!! HOO!! Being a visual person, vision boards help me bring my goals to my current reality, and they have been proven to be a great resource in helpingย  you achieve your goals. My sis and I have gotten magazines out the wazoo, and I have been collecting pics seemingly FOREVER!!! I think we will have SOOOOO MUCH FUN TONIGHT!! Kind of like KIDERGARTEN FOR GROWNUPS!!! WHOO! HOO!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am so excited! I have a camera ordered, and it should be here any day now. I MISS TAKING PICTURES!!! My old camera had some gotten itself stuck on macro, so that I can only take really, REALLY close up pics – NOT HELPFUL in my day to day life. Photography has become a hobby that I am absolutely PASSIONATE about!!! I just LOVE PICTURES!! Pics of all sorts of random things, moments, people, buildings, landscapes, creative vignettes, fashion, jewelry, shoes, books – it doesn’t matter – I just LOVE taking pictures!!! I sometimes even fantasize about getting an old Brownie camera and learning how to take pictures with that, or building my own pin-hole camera and seeing what kind of pics I can dream up! and the ULTIMATE would be to have my own DARK ROOM!!! Do people even have those any more?? Do people really even do actual film much??? I don’t know, and I don’t really care!! It just seems so mysterious and romantic!! I really need to get myself into a photography class of some kind. Anyone know of any good resources here in Salem??? If you do, please let me know in the comments, above. Thanks!

Well, I am getting ready to head out for work! I am praying that today is not too stressful! We are short handed and being asked to do a lot of work that really is not in our job description, which means there isย  A LOT OF LEARNING GOING ON!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Which, I always appreciate!! I just hope they don’t find out that I am making this crap up as I go along!! LOL!!!

With that said…

Have a FABULOUS day!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
