Catch-Up Tuesday!

Good evening!

I have to tell you that today has been such a very good day!! REALLY!!! The sun is shining, Chris and I have help at work now, which is DIVINE!!! Plus Julie really is VERY SWEET, so she has been a joyful addition to our team!!

I am sorry that my posts have been a little sparse the past two days! I had gotten caught up in a book – yes, I still do read, EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE!! I just finished reading  City of Fallen Angels, by Cassandra Claire, with my girlfriend, and co-worker Chris. She had finished it before me, which meant I HAD TO GET IT READ so that we could discuss!! WHEW!! So that is what I have been busy doing.

Ok, I got the last few pages read right before bed last evening! and can I tell you???

WHAT A HORRIBLE ENDING!!!

There is a movie that came out in 1982 that my mom used to watch A LOT when I was a little girl, it was called The Pirate Movie. Well, at the end of that movie, the main character, Mabel, who had been having a pirate dream for the length of the movie, realized she was getting a bad ending. She start calling out, “I want a happy ending! I want a happy ending!!” and the dream froze and, long story short – she got her happy ending!! Well,

I WANT A HAPPY ENDING!! I WANT A HAPPY ENDING!!!

For those of you who haven’t read City of Fallen Angels yet, Chris and I are both sooooo dang frustrated that we have to wait probably another year before we get to find out WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! UGH!!!

What is a girl to do??

Hmmm… I could always start another book???

😉

As I said earlier in this post, it is so nice and sunny here today – the first real feeling day of Spring!! FINALLY! This cheery, warm weather has started me dreaming about my farm again!! I am so ready to go out and find my farm! Today would be the most DELIGHTFUL day to go out and play in the gardens, take a nice leisurely walk, and spend some time laughing with my sweetie in the great outdoors!!

My sweetie is out working on a roof for a customer, and so I am home alone for dinner. I had a pretty big lunch today, so I have decided to do a light fruit and veggie based dinner tonight – kind of like a mini cleanse!! I have had a lovely pear, a nice crisp apple, and some freshly sliced strawberries!! Later, when/if I get hungry again, I have the makings of a fresh, crisp, green salad, which should be DELICIOUS!! if I get really hungry, we have some fresh baguette in the kitchen too, that I can tear a chunk off of!! Or maybe I can add about an ounce of cheese to the mix, for some calcium-rich protein! YUM! We’ll see! (NOTE: this is my attempt to live spontaneously! WILD? I KNOW!!!!)

I have decided to start buying only organic produce. It is more expensive, but I think in the long run, it can only help us by not consuming quite as many chemicals as we have eaten in the past! So, we have been eating organic produce for a few days now, and I have to tell you, that I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of a lot of these foods. They just taste better. More flavor, richer, somehow!! It has been less than a week, and I am already hooked!! Go figure!! Thanks for the words of encouragement, Sis!!! 😉

Tonight, I am going to do a little more reading, but I think I am also going to go take a nice walk out in nature, and just soak up as much vitamin D as I possibly can!!! Doesn’t that just sound lovely???

Have a FABULOUS evening!!

Note to Chunky Dunkers: I can’t wait to see all of you at our Chunky Dunker’s Club, here tomorrow night!!! It will be great to talk about our ups and downs in our efforts to getting fit and healthy!! Wednesday Reminder!

Good morning!

Here is your friendly reminder that it is Wednesday!! Trust me, this is the week that I really need a reminder of what day it is today!! I thought I would share just a few pics from my nature walk last night! It is trying so hard to be Spring here, but it is unfortunately, it is still really cold, and there is snow in the forecast for later this week, so I am not sure what all that craziness is about!

Spring I am sooooo ready for you to get here! Sunshine, warmth, everything in bloom, you coy sexy thing!!!  😉

Oh, and before I forget! A reminder that tonight is the meeting of the Chunky Dunker’s Club!! I will try and have our post up by 6:30 this evening, then the comments section will be open for all of your discussions! I can’t wait to hear how everything is going!!! I will see you this evening!! 😉

Have a FABULOUS day!! 😉

Is It Thursday???

Good evening!

Somehow I missed a day some where within this week. Not that I am complaining, but when I found out that it was already Thursday, I almost WHOOT-WHOOT’ed!! I am so thankful that Friday is tomorrow, I am really looking forward to getting one day closer to my weekend!!!

My dad had his medical procedure today for the prostate cancer he has been dealing with, and people have been coming out of the woodwork to send our family their prayers and best wished, which I am just so thankful for! I haven’t heard how he is doing yet, but his wife has assured me that she will let me know as soon as they get back to the hotel. I hope it is soon, because I am waiting on pins and needles for some good news.

The sun has done it’s best to peek out through out the day, and although it is still pretty chilly it is started to look a little like Spring around here today. There are flowers starting to bloom, and my sweetie decided that he would barbecue this evening, which I TOTALLY LOVE!!! We are having some grilled steak tonight, and a HUGE spinach salad! YUM!!! Which is perfect because I have been dealing with some anemia, and I have got to really increase my iron intake, and I hate taking iron pills – they always make me nauseous!!

Talking about needing more iron in my diet, I am going to have to do some research tonight to find out which foods are high in iron. Maybe I will post my finds tomorrow for anyone else who may need more iron in their diets. I will keep you posted! 😉

Did I tell you I have received a summons for jury duty??? I received it in the mail yesterday. I have never had jury duty before, which is pretty good seeing that I am 35. Anyone else have any jury duty stories!??

Anyway, I can see that this posting is getting a little long, so I am going to go wait for a call about my dad’s progress!! I will make sure to update you as soon as I hear anything!!!

Dad’s Procedure Update:
OK, I have just gotten a call from my sister, Alice, and my dad’s procedure went well. They inserted d 50 seeds into his scrotum with a needle – OUCH!!! (is that TMI???), which sounds like a lot but they could put in between 45 and100, so 50 is GREAT!! He got to hang out with his legs up in stirrups all afternoon – now he knows what our gyno visits are like. 😉 His physician said he shouldn’t have to go back again unless his blood platelets don’t go back down to zero like they are supposed to. He can’t be around kids, or pregnant women for more than 15-20 minutes at any given time for the next 4 months because he is radioactive. Talk about being a party animal!!! 😉

I am just so thankful that he is doing well, and I hope he is just able to get comfortable and get some rest!!

WE LOVE YOU, DADDY!!!! 😉

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! 😉

Note to Chunky Dunker’s Club: Make sure when choosing foods to eat, make sure to eat from every color of the rainbow. Cherries, carrots, blackberries, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, various bell peppers, red potatoes, squash, all sorts of lettuces, etc. I think you get the idea, but the more varied the colors in your diet the more likely you are to be getting a better variety of your daily vitamins that you need to feel great!! Remember, YOU CAN DO IT!!! 😉

Out & About On A Gorgeous Spring Day!

I am sitting at the Salem’s Saturday market on a gorgeous Saturday morning!! I can hear the soft music of someone playing a saxophone. Somewhere in the distance you can hear a jazz quartet starting play. It is beautifully haunting and at the same time the perfect soundtrack for this outing. The scents of freshly baked breads, kettle corn and all sorts of culinary delights are wafting through the air. There is a cool breeze which is cutting down on the harshness of the noonday sun that I am thoroughly enjoying as I sit here at this little café table under the shade of a tree.

At the market, you have your choice of freshly cut flowers, plants galore, handcrafted jewelry, handmade toys, soaps, and art. There is a magic in the air that is quite exhilarating.

People are walking around, taking in all of the sights, and sounds, and smells. It is looking like the chic place to be this Saturday morning!! There is talking, laughing, dogs barking, and merchants selling their wares. A little girl skips by in her light pink, sparkling princess slippers – How cute. Couples, grandparents, college students, families, owners walking their pets, pets walking their owners, and little kids milling about pointing out all of their curiosities to their mommies and daddies.  There are children looking as if they just walked off of the pages of a magazine in their perfectly little coiffed outfits. A woman passes by in red ruby slippers, looking as chic and effortless as humanly possible. There are people who look like they sun too much, and others who appear to not sun enough. There are people of every shape and size, color, culture, ethnicity, income class, and all in the purpose of a similar goal – enjoying this perfect Spring day!

This place is making me fall in love my little city all over again. – I just love the Saturday market. I should get out here more often, have a freshly baked baguette for breakfast, walk home with a large bouquet of fresh spring flowers and feeling like all is right with the world, because for just this brief snapshot in time, it is.
