Adventures in Photography!

Good afternoon!

This past Saturday, it was such a beautiful day that my sweetie and I packed up my new camera, remote control, and tripod, and headed out for a few hours to practice taking photos with my new camera! I had had my heart set out on going to the Union Street Railroad Bridge, which is an old river-crossing train trestle that was converted to a nice pedestrian bridge just a few years ago!

Walking BridgeWe knew that this was an old bridge, but were surprised to see that it was originally built in 1912. We were literally walking across history! πŸ™‚

Walking Bridge 8This is my lovely assistant, AKA my sweetie! He was happy to just people watch and soak up the sun on this absolutely GORGEOUS day!! πŸ™‚

Walking Bridge 14There were actually a lot of people out enjoying this morning, but we got lucky and I almost got a free and clear shot of the walking bridge without pedestrians! πŸ™‚

Walking Bridge 12I just love the way the metal crisscrosses and all of the details of the rivets! Industrial chic?? πŸ™‚

Walking Bridge 10This is the old wooden foundation. You can tell that there have been many recent repairs, but it is just so cool to look at!

Walking Bridge 16I really do love this man!! πŸ™‚

I know that I still have a loooooong way to go on learning how to use all of my settings on a my new camera, but I am determined to figure them all out!! ISO, white balance, timing, flash vs no flash, etc, etc! In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed these pictures and hopefully, over the next year or so, I can keep growing and learning as a photographer and continue to share my progress pics with you! πŸ™‚

Here is to a FABULOUS day! πŸ™‚

Random Monday!

Good evening!

It is so good to be back online again! I have spent the last 5 plus days being sick! Chest cold, hacking, wheezing through all sorts of yuckiness, sick!! I am still not back to my old peppy self quite yet, so I will making an appointment with my physician, and hopefully back up and running soon!! πŸ˜‰

In the meantime, I wanted to catch up on some much needed chatting with you this evening!Β  I have been anxiously waiting to tell someone about a surprise my sweetie brought home with him, last week as he was returning from a weeklong stay at the coast helping some friends as handyman extraordinaire! While he was on the way home from this trip, he texted me to say that he had a surprise for me that was going to knock my socks off! (That was me paraphrasing, what he actually said wasn’t quite a…hmmm..well, let’s just say eloquent!) Anyway, when he finally got home, I was already so excited to see him, but when I remembered that he had a gift for me, I felt like a little kid running down the stairs on Christmas morning! When he pulled out my surprise, I was SOOOO SHOCKED!!! He bought meΒ  new camera!!

Because I have been sick, I haven’t really had a chance to pick it up too much and figure out how all of it’s bells and whistles work, but I am really, REALLY EXCITED to figure it all out!! I will have to warn all of my friends and family – they are going to be my practice subjects for photography practice!!! Look out my lovelies, here I come!!! πŸ˜‰

On a change of subject, this week is going to be a busy one! I literally have a 60 hour work week this week, so that is going to be interesting! Hopefully our go-live will be quick and trouble free so that we can get back to our normal work week. Plus, I am happily enjoying the Brave Girls’ Soul Restoration I class! I am in week 3 of this empowering class, and really look forward to each new week of lessons, and this week it might be a little tricky to get it all done!!

Not to worry, I will have to get out my old, dusty, and well-used red “S” underoos and make it all work, and then crash by taking a few well-deserved vacation days!!! Aaaaaah!! Sounds perfect already!! πŸ˜‰

Here is to a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

Here’s to a FABULOUS Friday!! ;-)

A Tired Thursday!

Good morning!

YAWN!!! I am soooo tired this morning!!! To say that I have not slept well, is quite the understatement! I am not sure what is wrong with me, but I have just been tossing and turning for a few nights in a row now! I am going to have to take something before bed tonight to help me sleep the whole night through!!!

As for today, however, I just KNOW that this is going to be a GREAT DAY!!! Today is the day my sis, Alex and her kiddos come over. Us girls are going to make VISION BOARDS, which you have to know – I JUST LOVE!!! WHOO!! HOO!! Being a visual person, vision boards help me bring my goals to my current reality, and they have been proven to be a great resource in helpingΒ  you achieve your goals. My sis and I have gotten magazines out the wazoo, and I have been collecting pics seemingly FOREVER!!! I think we will have SOOOOO MUCH FUN TONIGHT!! Kind of like KIDERGARTEN FOR GROWNUPS!!! WHOO! HOO!! πŸ˜‰

I am so excited! I have a camera ordered, and it should be here any day now. I MISS TAKING PICTURES!!! My old camera had some gotten itself stuck on macro, so that I can only take really, REALLY close up pics – NOT HELPFUL in my day to day life. Photography has become a hobby that I am absolutely PASSIONATE about!!! I just LOVE PICTURES!! Pics of all sorts of random things, moments, people, buildings, landscapes, creative vignettes, fashion, jewelry, shoes, books – it doesn’t matter – I just LOVE taking pictures!!! I sometimes even fantasize about getting an old Brownie camera and learning how to take pictures with that, or building my own pin-hole camera and seeing what kind of pics I can dream up! and the ULTIMATE would be to have my own DARK ROOM!!! Do people even have those any more?? Do people really even do actual film much??? I don’t know, and I don’t really care!! It just seems so mysterious and romantic!! I really need to get myself into a photography class of some kind. Anyone know of any good resources here in Salem??? If you do, please let me know in the comments, above. Thanks!

Well, I am getting ready to head out for work! I am praying that today is not too stressful! We are short handed and being asked to do a lot of work that really is not in our job description, which means there isΒ  A LOT OF LEARNING GOING ON!! πŸ˜‰ Which, I always appreciate!! I just hope they don’t find out that I am making this crap up as I go along!! LOL!!!

With that said…

Have a FABULOUS day!!! πŸ˜‰
