DSC06417When I set out to create this week’s layout, I knew what I wanted to do! I wanted to have a really cool door, and my sentiment was going to be, “When one door opens another one opens.” Well, that is exactly what happened this week! One door closed and another one opened!! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC06419After giving up on my door idea, I realized I was going to have to give my background some more attention! A few spritz of Dylusions Ink Spray was not going to be enough for what I was wanting to create!

DSC06428So let the fun begin! These are my favorite kind of backgrounds to do! Lots of acrylic, circles, doodling, drips, stamps!! Sign me up!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06423I think these pictures speak for themselves!! I just love the scrumdiddly-umptiousness of it all!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06433

I also LOVE the colors that I used this week! I don’t normally work with blues and purples, but after seeing how this spread turned out, I may have to dabble with these more often!! ๐Ÿ˜‰DSC06426

DSC06432

I ended up ABSOLUTELY LOVING this spread! I can honestly tell you that it is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!!!DSC06420

So, what do you think? I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this weekโ€™s art journal!

Also, if you have any ideas, or techniques that you might like to see me try in one of my future layouts, please let me know in the comment section and I will see what I can do to be accommodating! Also, I really do LOVE answering any questions you may have about art journaling, mixed-media, or anything you might have seen me do here! Please feel free to ask questions in the comments, and I will try and get back to you in a timely manner!!

Until next time!

Here is to a BEAUTIFULย Creativeย life! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Weekly Art Journal #10

Good morning!

My Weekly Art Journal #10 is now up on YouTube!! ๐Ÿ™‚

The supplies I used today:

  • 4 different wash tapes of different sizes, 2 were Scotch brand, but I don’t know the other two
  • Dylusion Spray Ink: Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest
  • Acrylic Paints: Folk Art Medium Yellow (455), Ceramcoat Pop Pink (02646), DecoArt Tropical Blue (DCA102)
  • 2 Studio G Stamps: I am unsure of what their names are, but they were both 2010 stamps. One is dots, and the other is 2 different sized circles
  • An XOXOXO Stamp from Delafield Stamp Company
  • Black Pilot Marksall Pen
  • White Sharpie Water Based Poster Paint Pen
  • Uhu Glue Stick
  • Sentiment printed on regular printer paper using my computer
  • Scissors

DSC06247As usual, I went into this spread with no real plan whatsoever, except that I knew I wanted to keep some white space on my layout! I have been noticing that I have been covering almost every square inch of my pages leaving very little white space, and this week I wanted to seeย what white space would feel like if it was done on purpose!

DSC06250Oh, and did you notice??? I actually speak??? I thought since this video was so short, this week, that would be the perfect, and unscary way to dive in and give my new microphone a go! I was pretty happy with that!! Let me know if you like these videos with speaking or without! ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC06264I found a bunch of wash tapes on sale at my local Staples so, with the encouragement of my sweetie, I ended up buying at least one of every pattern!! YEAH!!! ย Is there a simpler way to add color to a layout???? I LOVE THAT!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06253Of course I am still on my Dylusions Spray Ink OBSESSION, and could NOT imagine not using some on this layout!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06261

Plus add oodles and oodles of texture stamps and doodles!! I LOVE THIS!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06269

I didn’t even mind the occasional wrinkle, fold, or tear that the washi tape might have ended up!! I am really learning to not only embrace the messy, but I am really LOVING the no pressure-ness of it!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06258Overall, I am ABSOLUTELY in LOVE with this week’s spread! It is so bright, and happy, and it was so quick and simple to do!! What could be better???

Also, I wanted to make sure that I share that this week’s spread sentiment was totally inspired by a video that I had stumbled on that morning, by Melody Ross from Brave Girls Club:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRC1GGOgMTM

This was a message that I really,ย REALLY needed to hear this week! ๐Ÿ™‚

Weekly Art Journal #9

Oh my, I just realized I still haven’t posted my detailed post for my weekly Art Journal #9, which was actually posted last week! So, you will get two posts from me today!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, my Weekly Art Journal #9 is ready for your viewing pleasure!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Materials I used for this spread:

  • Dylusion Spray Inks: Fresh Lime, Pure Sunshine, London Blue, Vibrant Turquise, and White Linen
  • Ranger Paint Dauber: Black soot
  • A magazine cutout – used as a stencil mask
  • Cardstock for printing my sentiment on
  • Pentel Arts Color Pens (fine point): Yellow (S360-105), Teal (S360-110), Medium Blue (S360-136), Dark Blue (S360-103)
  • Molotow Acrylic Premium Paint Pen: Black, and White
  • Hero arts French Script mounted stamp
  • Ranger Archival Black Ink Pad
  • Black Pilot Marksall pen

DSC06171

My motivation for this spread was hands down my weekend with Dyan Reaveley, learning from her in her EXCELLENT, and ABSOLUTELY FUN art journaling technique classes!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you missed out on that, you can read about that here!DSC06179

This was a completely different kind of technique for me, so I was a little nervous to see how it would turn out!DSC06185

Something I didn’t think about when I created my mask out of a magazine image: If you see the magazine image, it is a very happy looking woman, but when you only see the silhouette of that same image, it is reading as a very depressed woman!! OOPSIE!! Notย what I was going for!! But I won’t be too hard on myself about that! ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC06175

I really love all of the different color variations and textures that come from using the Delusion sprays through stencils!! I am going to run out and invest in every color!! ๐Ÿ˜‰DSC06169

I really loved the look of the script letter stamp showing through the background of the masked silhouette!! I think I would have liked it even better if the words were larger! ๐Ÿ™‚DSC06174

I also had a lot of fun doodling on this page – the white on black and the black on the colorful section! I may have to do that more often! ๐Ÿ™‚DSC06187

Overall, I am very happy with how this spread turned out!! What do you think?

If you have any ideas, or techniques that you might like to see me try in one of my future layouts, please let me know in the comment section and I will see what I can do to be accommodating! Also, I really do LOVE answering any questions you may have about art journaling, mixed-media, or anything you might have seen me do here! Please feel free to ask questions in the comments, and I will try and get back to you in a timely manner!!

Until next time…er…later today! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is to another FABULOUS week! ๐Ÿ™‚

A Peek In My Sketchbook!

???????????????????????????????Good afternoon!

I have been doing a lot of daydreaming about my dream reality lately, and in doing so it is causing me to start taking baby steps of action towards making those dreams my reality. Most specifically is the dream that I want to be an artist. A real-live-creating-for-the-hell-of-it-inspirational-artist! The baby step that I have been slowly but surely taking action on is learning to draw –

EEK!!

WHAAAA?

No you are NOT!!!

Yes, YES I AM!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Drawing is something that has always scared the heebie-geebies out of me!! It just seems like it is something that only “talented” people can do, so I have always kind of either avoided it, or done all my drawing in secret and then quickly throw it away before anyone could happen upon it and make fun of me for my lack of natural skill!!

???????????????????????????????

The fact that I want to be an actual-true-real-live-artist has finally won over this fear, and I have been learning to take baby steps into the foray that is drawing! For me, that means I have started with doodling!

DOODLING??? That is NOT drawing!!!

Ah-Hah!! Oh contraire!!

Doodling IS a precursor to drawing, because you have to get both your brain and your hands used to the motions, the movements of creating a swirl, a dash, a dart, an upside down heart or arrow, a swoop, a curl, a box, a zig, and even a zag! You have to be comfortable with those motions before you can move on to more difficult (well, at least what I perceive to be more difficult) things such as actually drawing something that is recognizable to the human eye!

???????????????????????????????

I thought in honor of my taking new baby steps, such as doodling, I would share with you some of my progress, and give you a peek into my sketchbook! This is not a fancy smanzy sketchbook, but rather an inexpensive, spiral-bound, pad of paper that I am trying to take with me wherever I go, so that I can sketch whenever I get a free minute!! I am working on keeping my creativity muscles firing!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoy!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is to a very DOODLY kind of day!! ๐Ÿ™‚
