Good evening!

This past Saturday, I got to spend the day on my own with no responsibilities. With my camera in hand, and I headed out to Turner, Oregon to spend some time down at The yearly Barn House Show! Looking for Beauty at Aunt Bee’s House!

Good evening!

I am so very excited to share this post with you this evening, but before I get too ahead of myself, I wanted to tell you a little bit of back story on this post! Last week, I went to one of my FAVORITE shops here in town, Aunt Bee’s House!Β Aunt Bee’s House is a large marketplace for people to rent space to sell their home furnishings, decorative items, gifts, and other beautiful treasures!! When I find that I am needing to get some retail therapy, some inspiration for doing some decorating in my little condo, find a new color combination ideas for my next arting project, or if I am need of a unique and perfect gift for a friend or family member – Aunt Bee’s House is my go-to place of choice!!

Well, anyway I had gathered up the nerve to introduce myself to the staff, and ask if I could take some pictures so that I could post them on blog, This Artsy Life. That may not sound like a big deal, but me being eternally shy and having a tendency to want to remain invisible when I am out on the town by myself, I was pretty dang proud of myself!! Well, of course the staff ofΒ Aunt Bee’s House being SO AMAZING, welcoming and friendly, they said “yes” immediately, and off I went – snapping away!!! I was such a happy girl, and I think I came home with something like 200 pictures!!

Needless to say, it was a GREAT day!! πŸ™‚

Well, long story short, I got home placed my camera card in my computer, and my computer essentially ate all of my pictures!! UGH!!

I would love to tell you that me being the new brave and outgoing Christina, I turned around went right back and started the process all over again, but alas that is not how it went down! πŸ™‚ It literally took me another week to gather up my courage again to go back and ask if I might take those pictures again!! The FABULOUS staff so graciously said “yes” again, and again I spent a lovely afternoon just snapping away!! Finding all sorts of treasures and beautiful items to delight the senses. I can’t believe it had taken me so long to get back there!! I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! πŸ˜‰

Soooo…

Tonight I am very happy to share with you some of the pictures that I took while at Aunt Bee’s House.

Here we go!! πŸ™‚

Here is another vignette that makes me happy to look at! I am really digging the message of this teal sign. “Thank God for blessing me much more than I deserve!” This has become my motto on almost a daily basis!! πŸ˜‰

This is a message that I am going to try and apply to my life this week!! Enjoy the Little Things!! πŸ™‚

A Blast From the Past!

Good evening!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers out there, or those Aunties, Sisters, Girlfriends, or Daughters who sometimes have an active mothering role to someone special in your life out there (that covers just about all of us, I think!!)!!! Today, my sweetie and I got to have a lovely visit and a great big ol’ lunch over at our mom, Linda’s place!! It was a bunch of fun!!

Happy Mother’s Day mom!!! πŸ˜‰

Today, I wanted to share some of the pictures I took of Camp Kuratli up in Boring, Oregon yesterday. This is the Salvation Army camp that me and a lot of friends grew up going to every Summer. We had music camps, family camps, young adult/teen camps, and community camps. It seemed at times that we lived at camp almost all Summer long. One yea, I remember we made it home for EXACTLY 3 days all Summer, which gave us just enough time to wash all of our clothes!! I am not sure exactly how we were able to function without washing our clothes!! We must have smelled SOMETHING AWFUL!!! πŸ˜‰

Here is what you see when you first get into camp. The main office is on the right, and the gymnasium, which I know we called something else, but I can’t seem to remember what is on the left of this pic.

Here is another pic of the large gymnasium! We hosted a lot of concerts here!

This is the old craft house and the stairs that all of us kids would race down to get to the shower house so we could get into the pool first during free time!!

Here is the caboose AKA Canteen (where we would wait in line to buy all sorts of candy and junk food!!)/Nurses Station – at least it was when we went there as kids. I don’t remember it quite looking so fresh, but we all sure had a fun time playing all over this thing!!! πŸ˜‰

The camper cabins are all spaced out around this large loop. Here a few of those cabins.

You couldn’t really call being out at Camp Kuratli as roughing it because all of the cabins had indoor plumbing, running water, and space heaters! This place was really more like a resort for kids. πŸ™‚ Here is some more of that loop of camper cabins!

Here is a pic of the other side of the circle, I am not sure what everything is now, but back in the day the building on the far left was the rec hall, which was where we could go during free time to play board games and stuff in case it was raining – although most of us spent EVERY free time in the pool – we figured we were already wet, so who cared if it rained??? The next building is the mess hall, and in front of that is the flag pole where we would line up every morning for revile, lowering whatever item of clothing happened to have gotten raided the night before (usually some poor camper’s underwear, of course!!), raising the American flag, saying the Pledge of Allegiance and then prayer for the meal. The next building was where the staff washed their laundry! I have no idea what that tiny building on the far left is, I don’t remember that, but it is right at the top of those stairs that you saw in the craft house pic. and a little farther to the right is where the caboose lives.

Here are a couple of pics of Merlo Field. This is up behind the circle of camper cabins, and this, for me, has changed the most dramatically since my days of going to this camp. This used to be a great open field!! Now it houses the camps swimming pools.

It sure is still beautiful though!! I know it is hard to tell, but up in this bit of forest is a very large house, and I remember whenever the campers would get really loud, the owners of the house would complain, and for some reason that made all of us campers laugh!! Like we were doing something right!! Even thinking about it now, still makes me smile! πŸ˜‰

But mostly it was and is all of the lovely trees, the creek that runs through the camp, and the fact that we were right in the middle of the MOST BEAUTIFUL Oregon forest that helped make this camp special to all of us kids.

Here are a few panoramic views of the main circle, please feel free to click on these, or any of the pics to see them at full size – they are pretty large!!!

I hope you enjoyed these pics as much as I enjoyed taking them and reminiscing about this AMAZINGLY FUN time in my life!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! πŸ˜‰

A Thought Provoking Quote!

Good morning!

I stumbled upon this quote this morning…

“The one piece of advice I can give you is, do what turns you on. Do something that if you had all the money in the world, you’d still be doing it. You’ve got to have a reason to jump out of bed in the morning.”
~Warren Buffett

This quote has got me really thinking! What would I be doing if I had all the money in the world? Gosh, I think I KNOW who I am, but why is this such a hard question for me to answer??Β

I love:
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Blogging
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Antiquing/Treasure Hunting/Shopping
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Decorating
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  All things photography
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Fashion
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  Magazines – but this might tie back into my love of photographs???
βˆ™Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  The idea of traveling

I would be in ABSOLUTE HEAVEN if there was a way that I could combine all of these things into my life/career!! DIVINE!!! Let me know if this triggers any ideas!! πŸ˜‰

What would your answer be? What would you do if you had all the money in the world??? I am curious!

Have a FABULOUS morning!

A Taxing Kind of Morning!

Good morning!

Having meditated before bed last night, which in turn caused me to fall asleep faster, I woke up early this morning raring to go!! I’ve decided that I needed to gather my tax papers so that I can file my taxes! I was sure I had a fail-safe plan when I chose a location to “stash” all of the random incoming papers, so as not to lose them, but unfortunately there must have been some kind of a hiccup in my plan, because I am missing two very important papers! Dang! It is going to cause me to have to serious spend some time this evening looking for them!! Oh well, that will teach me!

As I continue to think about where I could have placed those tax papers, I look around and see a couple of stacks of things that just need to be donated, or even tossed in this room! I am sitting in our spare room, which has kinda become a craft room/office/mini library. As you may already know, I go through phases of cleaning/purging/using this room, and other times this room stays completely closed up and unused all together! Sad, really! and what a waste of square footage!! My office is talking about having us telecommute on a more permanent basis, since desk space is becoming a rarity at work right now, which means that this would be the room that I would have to work out of. In it’s current state, I am not sure that would be possible! Not to mention, this chair is not meant to be sat on for long periods of time!!! I think what I am trying to say, is that I have got to keep making this room more of a priority to get FINISHED!!! This room could be such a SWEET spot!! I will get on that!! πŸ˜‰

As for work today??? Well, I am going to have to be a little more focused in my tasks otherwise I will have a repeat of yesterday, where I had gotten a lot of work done, but they may not have been the BEST use of my time! I have some big assignments that a lot of people are waiting for! I am hoping to knock one of those out of the ballpark today and into the hands of one of my customers!!! That would make for a GREAT day!! πŸ˜‰

I am going to run and set myself up for a LEVEL 10 day!!! as for you…

Have a FABULOUS day!! πŸ˜‰

Girl Crush!!

Good morning!

I am totally loving all things Adele, at the moment!!! I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with her as soon as I heard her song Chasing Pavements.Β  With her soulful music, her incredible retro-vibe style, and seemingly old soul , she seems like a really cool person to hang out with, like you know you would have a lot of fun with her!!! AND not only that, but she is a plus-sized girl!! You know what I mean! I mean, she is out there rockin’ it as a REAL WOMAN!!! What an inspiration!!!

This song is #1 in the US, right now! You go girrrl!!! πŸ˜‰

Do you see what I mean?? She is FREAKIN’ FABULOUS!!! If I could just borrow a SCOSCHE of the down-to-your-soul-kind-of-style – MAMMA would be in HEAVEN!!! πŸ˜‰

Her second album, 21, has been released, and I am going to go pick up my copy today!! I am going to play it all the freakin’ time and I am sure it is going to completely drive my husband INSANE, but I have a tendency to do that to him anyway!! LOL! πŸ˜‰

I want to know how she does that incredible hairstyle of hers – very 60’s throwback, and see if I can figure out how to rock this myself!! and HONEY, I LOVE FALSE EYE LASHES!!! FABULOUS!!! She seems to have taken all of the GLAMOUR that I LOVE in old movies and made it accessible! Think Sophia Loren!?!?

I would LOVE to hear what do you think – let me know in the comments above!!!

Have a FABULOUS day!! πŸ˜‰

Friday Evening of Inspiration!

Good evening!!

I have had a surprisingly good day today at work! I KNOW – I REALLY DID SAY THAT!!! Work was good! Yes, there were a couple of stressful moments today, but I felt I was really productive, and there MIGHT be a light at the end of this crazy tunnel!! and I may have realized today that the light ISN’T a TRAIN!! LOL! πŸ˜‰

What a good day!!! My hubby and I just got home, and Jason is in the kitchen cooking my FAVORITE DINNER!!! Shake ‘n Bake pork chops with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli!!! This dinner reminds me of home!!! Comfort food!!! God bless that man of mine!! What a KEEPER!!! πŸ˜‰

After dinner this evening, I think the plan is that we are going to watch another episode of Bones off of NetFlix, and then we are going to go enjoy a late night walk through the neighborhood!

I thought I would share a couple of pics that have been inspiring me lately!!

If I were to psychoanalyze these, I think I am being drawn towards strong, sexy, powerful women, a luxuriously scrumptious home, a FABULOUS hairstyle, and a rockin’ load of self confidence!! Of course these are all things that I am longing for and in myself!!!

Tell me what kind of things are inspiring you, in the comments above! I am always curious to know what makes other people tick!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! πŸ˜‰

Just a Saturday!

Good evening!

Today has just been a plain old Saturday. Not good, not bad just plain!! I have been sitting here trying to think of something witty, or fun, or interesting to talk about, but I got nothing. I think they call this writer’s block!

I am a little sad today, or maybe just hormonal. My best friend is on her way back to Arizona today, and I am just praying that her and our niece get back safely.

I have been crying pretty non-stop, but not all sad tears, which is why I think I am just a raging hormone at the moment! Commercials, television shows, just thinking – cry, cry, cry!!! Happy – cry! Sad – cry! Funny – cry! Emotional roller coasters are draining!!! LOL!!!

My husband and I have been hanging out at the house today, watching movies, and literally doing much of anything!! How sad is that!!!Β  I am watching an old Shirley Temple movie, I am not sure which one, but one of the women in this movie is inspiring me to roll my hair in curlers this evening!!! Maybe, I will take pics and post this for you! πŸ˜‰

My husband just came home from the grocery store and offered me ice cream for dinner – HAHAHA! I turned him down, but that just shows you what kind of a lazy kinda day we’ve been having!!! I think it was just time to have one of those kind ofΒ  Saturdays!!! I hope you get the opportunity to have one of these kind of days too!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! πŸ™‚

A Dapper Evening!!

Good evening!!

My sister, Alex and her kiddos just left for the evening!! Since Christopher just turned 13 on Tuesday, we decided to let him choose dinner – pizza, of course!!! We played a fun game of Clue, which I haven’t done in quite a few years, and I WON!!! WHOO-HOO!! Then we went swimming, and we swam around like crazy people!!! I AM LOVING SWIMMING – it is making me feel so much stronger and more energetic!! Next a relaxing soak in the hot tub, home and a bowl full of cut-up strawberries, and I am a VERY HAPPY girl!!!πŸ˜‰

Well, last evening I spent at least an hour or so perusing the web for some inspirational outfits, to help me think about my wardrobe pieces with fresh eyes! While I was doing that, I ran across quite a few fashionable men too!! I asked my husband what his fashion style was, and his response was “functional”. BUMMER – not exactly what a girl wants to hear, but I really shouldn’t be too surprised! When we first started dating his idea of dressing up, was to wear something with less wholes in it!! πŸ˜‰ That is ok, I still love his wraggin’ muffin looking self!!!

Here are some of those Hottie-McHottie pics I found last night:

Man!! OH MAN!!! I can’t put my finger on EXACTLY what I like in men’s fashion, but I think it is the juxtaposition between rugged tough man, and old-world gentleman!! Maybe you can see that in those pictures!! If only I could find a way to somehow rub just a smidgen of these dapper men’s fashion sense onto my husband, OH WHAT A MIRACLE DAY THAT WOULD BE!!! You know, like a retro-sexual pill!! πŸ˜‰ and I am sure I am not the only woman out there thinking it!! πŸ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ™‚
