Tonight!

Good evening!

Tonight is a cold and blustery night here in Oregon. It is raining outside, and I am soooo in a snuggly, stay-at-home kind of mood!!! My official plan is to go get into my most comfortable jammies, come back down stairs with a large warm blankie, and snuggle on the couch with my sweetie and the girls while maybe watching a movie, or possibly reading, or maybe just taking a nap on his lap.

You see, I only slept about 5 hours last night. I woke up at 1:30 early this morning. I have a dream career that I am trying to piece together in my head apparently both consciously and subconsciously. This dream makes me sooo excited that no matter what I tried, I just could not fall asleep. So, instead, I read a bit about my dream, wrote about my dream, envisioned my dream, and then when my body couldn’t stand it any longer, about 5 hours later, I FINALLY fell back to sleep.

As I head off to go thoroughly enjoy the rest of my night…

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

Pumpkin Carving with the Kiddos!

Good evening!

My sweetie and I just got back from taking our neice and nephew, Megan and Morgan home this evening! They came over this evening to have dinner and then to carve some pumpkins with us! This was one of my life list memories I wanted to make, and I am so glad I did!!

Megan and Morgan were so excited, but in all honesty so was Jason and I!!! The first thing we did was to go pick out our pumpkins. Morgan picked the very first pumpkin he saw, and Megan picked up the biggest pumpkin she could find!!

After dinner we covered the dining room table with newspaper and started cleaning out our pumpkins, we were literally up to our elbows in pumpkin guts!! EEEW!!! Morgan was COMPLETELY creeped out by the pumpkin innards, and Uncle Jay-Jay finally convinced him to just touch it! This look on his face is just so funny, but the sound that was coming out of his mouth was simply PRICELESS!! He doesn’t gross out easily, you know!! πŸ˜‰

Now Megan on the other hand, I could keep her hand out of the guts bowl!! She just kept squishing it through her fingers, and was ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!! She is just so funny!! Whenever she would finally take her hand out of the bowl, she would make a point to discreetly sweep her gooey hands across brothers’ bare skin just so she could see him squirm! She got such a giggle out of that!! Silly girl!! πŸ˜‰

The boys worked on one pumpkin, and us girls worked on the other. I caught this fantastic picture of the boys heavily concentrating on the carving of their face. Jason did the carving, and Morgan basically did all of the directing and supervising! They were just soooo adorable!! Mirror images of each other!!! πŸ˜‰

Here is a picture of the kids anxiously awaiting the “lighting ceremony”. Morgan was just adamant that the jack-o-lanterns WERE NOT DONE until they had a candle inside of them!! So, you know us, we aim to please!!! πŸ˜‰

Don’t they look GREAT??? Megan’s is the one on the left, and Morgan’s is the one on the right!! As if I REALLY had to tell you, I am sure if you had to figure it out on your own, I am sure you would have been right!!! πŸ˜‰

One last picture: I promised Morgan that I would post this picture. This is a side shot of the boys’ jack-o-lantern. I said, “Morgan, that is such a cool lightning bolt!” He quickly corrected me by saying, “That’s not a lightning bolt, that’s our SCAR Auntie Chrissy!!!” Oh, sorry, I am not sure what I was thinking!!! Boys will be boys, whether they are 5 or 35!! πŸ˜‰

Thank you, Nette, for letting us borrow your kiddos!! We had such a fun night tonight!Until next year, when we carve pumpkins for Halloween again…

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

I Must Be Crazy!

Good evening!!

You know, I have decided that I really must be crazy! After being SOOOOO relieved after spending so much time getting Jason’s blanket done, that who would have thought that the VERY NEXT DAY I would choose to pick up another skein of yarn to learn a new stitch!!! Jason’s blanket was a ginormous granny square. This next blanket is called a granny chevron!!! I am REALLY EXCITED to see how it will turn out! Ok, so I realize that sounds a little sad, but I have already done the complete first row (it is much narrower than Jason’s) and I can already see it zig-zagging!! YEAH!!! Ok, so maybe I really am crazy, because this new blanket is going to take me A WHILE!! I am doing this one in all white, soI imagine it will be a pretty throw blanket for our living room!!

Anyway, besides that craziness, I have had a really good day!! Work was very productive, I LOVE THAT by the way! Crossing things off of my daily to-do list! That is VERY SATISFYING!!!

Oh, not to change subjects again, but I am going to, Jason has gone upstairs, taken a skein of yarn, one of my crochet hooks and has started learning how to crochet too!! He is watching a YouTube video and already has about 3 inches of a scarf already made!!! He is such a talented STINKER!! It took me literally YEARS to get to where he has been able to get in less than an hour – however, I will admit that I did NOT have anything like YouTube – I just had to kind of figure it out, with help from anyone who was patient enough to answer all of my crocheting questions (namely, Jason’s mom – THANKS MOM!!!)!!!Β  πŸ˜‰

So, this evening, I am done crocheting for the night! It is nice and cold in the house this evening, so I think I am going to go cuddle under the blankets with my sweetie in bed tonight and do a little reading! I am reading the latest book in the Lost Heroes Series, by Rick Riordan – you know the continuation of the Percy Jackson series?? Really good book, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!! Reading is MUCH MORE gratifying than watching the tele – I’m just sayin’! πŸ˜‰

On that note…

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

P.S.Β  I wanted to make sure that I remind all of you Chunky Dunkers that we are on tomorrow night!!! See you then! GO CHUNKY DUNKER’S!!! πŸ˜‰

I Finished It!

Good evening!
I am very happy to report that I have FINALLY gotten my sweetie’s blanket finished!! YEAH!! It took me about a month and a half, and 12 skeins of yarn to get this finished!!

This is the first blanket I have ever made that had some semblence of a pattern for! All of my other blankets have been just me, pretending like no one will notice that my edges are exactly straight – ok, so they acually bore no resemblence to straightness, but it was all about getting the practice!! Crocheting is something that really relaxes me, and I would LOVE to be good at it someday!!

As for now, I am VERY HAPPY that my sweetie loves his blanket, and has been toting it around the house as if he were Linus, and he is just waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it!!! How cute!! πŸ˜‰

I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

A Sunday of Fun Productivity!

Good evening!

Just a short and quick update on how our day has gone today! Well, in a phrase, it has been a productively-lazy Sunday!! πŸ˜‰

I spent some time finishing reading one book, got about halfway through another one. Jason helped me get some chores done, and we spent some time playing – do you know how much fun it is to randomly surprise your sweetie with a pillow smack to the face, while shouting “AIR BAG”!?!?!? We have been getting a crazy laugh from that all day!! Ok, so you may have to be there to truly experience that fun!! πŸ˜‰

We snuck in a short nap, watched the movie Jane Eyre, and I have spent a good portion of the evening trying to finish up crocheting Jason’s blanket!! I have less than one skein to go, and I am sure that if I keep working at it, it will be done by tomorrow!! I hope!! πŸ˜‰

I will keep you updated!

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

Finally Home!

Good evening!

I am so happy to report that I am finally home!! WHOO! HOO!!

Yesterday was the last day of my computer training in Wisconsin, so naturally I started the journey home yesterday afternoon. Who knew it would be such a LOOOOONG journey!! πŸ˜‰

The original plan was that I would leave my class at four to catch the shuttle to the airport in Madison, which would take about an hour to get there. Then I would have about a 2 and a half hour wait before my flight to Chicago. Once to Chicago, I would have one hour to catch that plane, and then my plane to Portland, Oregon would get in at about midnight, and my sweetie would pick me up and drive us home, which would get us home about 1 am. I would get some much needed sleep and then go to work from noon to 5, and life would officially be back to “normal”.

What really happened though, was this:

I left my class at 4 to take the hour long drive to the airport on the shuttle. Got to the airport, as expected, and when I got there found out my flight to Chicago had been delayed by an extra hour, because there was a really bad wind storm in Chicago. This would also mean that if I was going to make my connecting flight, I was going to have to SERIOUSLY run, which, at that point, I was sooooo tired, and sooooo ready to be home, I was more than willing to do.

At a little after 8 pm, they finally gave the a-ok to board our plane, but when we taxi’d out, we found out we had that we were grounded and had to wait on the Tarmac until air traffic control gave us the green light to go. It was quite a wait, but at this point, in my mind, it was still all good because it was a small plane, with even less passengers, so they let us sit wherever we wanted, and by that time there were about 4 of us who were really getting to know each other, nervouslyΒ  laughing and joking, and three of us four, were all heading to Portland on the same flights. Come rain or come shine, I knew I wasn’t going to be alone!! What a blessing!! πŸ˜‰

Well, I am not sure what time we actually got to take off, but we all knew we were going to miss our connecting flights! and boy, did we ever!

Before I tell you what happened next, I think I had better tell you about our AMAZING flight crew from Madison to Chicago! We flew United, and I have never really had any problems with them, so I knew we were going to be in good hands! That might have been the UNDERSTATEMENT of the whole trip!!! Seeing that they were forecasting cross winds of up to 50 miles an hour, we had a relatively smooth, and comfortable ride – considering the weather. There were times that I was sure we would NEVER get off of that Tarmac, but once we did the professionalism and skill of our crew was extremely self-evident! YouΒ  could tell that the plane was trying hard to roll, and the pilots did a lot of compensating to make sure we made it to Chicago safely! I am not saying that I was completely worry free during our flight. It was a lot bumpier than normal after all, but I had decided to just pray about it, and let God take care of getting us there. one way or the other, I knew I would be in His hands.

We did finally get there safely, and we had an AMAZINGLY smooth landing, which was a feat unto itself because it was SO RAINY and SO WINDY!! WHEW!!! but, I knew God was helping fly that little plane. When we finally got off the plane, I headed right to the gate to ask the person at the counter if our connecting flight had taken off, well, let’s just say he practically laughed his confirmation at me, as if I were some silly dreamer, which I guess I am, but a girl could hope that it had been delayed too can’t she?

So, the three of us Portland bound ladies, myself, Eartha, and KJ (short for Kathy Jo)Β  had decided that we were all in this together, and made the trek to find out how to go about getting ourselves set up with new flights so we could FINALLY get to Portland. After finding where we were supposed to go to get help, we found ourselves in the LOOOOOONGEST line and if we had any doubts before that this was going to be a long night, we knew for SURE now!! πŸ˜‰ Thankfully, by the time I finally made it to the associate, she was still smiling – bless her heart!!Β  I had been watching and she had people yelling at her, and being downright rude, and I was just soooo impressed that she had kept her cool, and not only that, but to do it all with a SMILE?? She was VERY IMPRESSIVE!! So, when I go to her window, I had decided to tell her so, and thank her for what a GREAT job she was doing!!Β  She reserved me a seat on the next flight back to the Pacific Northwest, which was going to be going to Seattle, and we would be on the plane by aboutΒ  8 am the next morning! WHOO! HOO!! as long as we were on our way! (Yes, all three of us girls ended up on the same flights, thankfully!!)

By this time it was a little past 11 at night, the airport had practically closed down for the evening and I was hungry because I had missed dinner that evening, and the young lady who had helped us reschedule our flights, I believe her name was Mary Jane, was just getting off of her shift, and had by then, made it her mission to make sure that the three of us had ANYTHING that we needed, food, drinks, etc!!! She kept offering to drive and get us some food, and bring it back. πŸ™‚ We kept thanking her and telling her that wasn’t going to be necessary! She then said she was willing to go home, and bring us back some apples from an orchard that she had just picked these fresh apples from, she was VERY SWEET, but we assured her that we would be fine, and she headed home for the evening! Well, Eartha, KJ and myself had found our hunkering down spots in the airport and were busy chatting and getting to know each other a little better, when lo and behold, Mary Jane came back!!! She said that she had searched all over the airport and found that there was a Starbuck’s not to far away that would be open all night! She let us know that they had fruit, veggies, sandwiches, etc, on top of there coffee selections!!Β  We were soooo very appreciative!! I know that she was a walking angel, and that when I had prayed for God to take care of us getting us home, he had gone above and beyond, by sending us this AMAZING lady to help make us comfortable!!!

Well, it was waaay past midnight by now, someone from the airport had come around and given all of us stranded travelers fleece blankets to help keep us warm. I was convinced that God had placed people as angels all around us!! πŸ˜‰ We knew it was going to be a long night trying to get any kind of sleep in those hard chairs, but we all took turns trying to catch some shut eye, while one of the other of us watched all of our bags, and belongings. I really couldn’t have asked for better company!!

So long story short, none of us really got much in the way of sleep, but we weren’t alone and by about 2-ish I was finally, and GRATEFULLY home!! When my sweetie got to the airport to pick me up, I almost cried with joy to see him!!! His twinkling blue eyes, smiling at me, was just almost more than my happy to be home self could bear!!

Looking back on this trip, I am sure that this will be one I will NEVER forget!! and KJ and Eartha, wherever you are – I do have your contact information, I want to say thank you to you both, you made a very scary situation, a fun, and memorable adventure, and I will forever be grateful to you both!!!

With my story told, it is time for me to go back to bed (I literally climbed in as soon as we got home, and I only got up because I ALMOST forgot to blog today!!)

Have a FABULOUS evening!!

Up Insanely Early!

Good morning!

Today is my last day of computer training here in Madison, Wisconsin! So far the trip has gone rather well, especially for someone who really has a hard time with flying. Ok, maybe that is sugar-coating the truth a bit! I am terrified of flying!!! Thankfully, I have special medication that I am able to take that helps soften the fear-factor quite a bit, and just makes me rather sleepy! I am also rather impressed by the Economy vs Economy-Plus upgrade that you are able to purchase. It costs me a little over $50 to upgrade both of my flights from economy to economy plus, and I am able to enjoy more leg room, and earlier boarding – YEAH!!!

I am up really early this morning, about 3 am, my time, 5 am theirs. This hotel room is so warm, and I JUST NOW figured out how to use the dang thermostat! SHEESH!! πŸ˜‰ I guess I am using too many of my important brain cells in class, that by the time I get back to the hotel, they are all mushed-out!! πŸ˜‰ Anyway, I am so thankful that the fan has finally kicked on, and seeing that I am going to be go-go-go until about 1 AM tomorrow morning, I really should be trying to sleep at least another hour, it ain’t gonna happen. SO, I thought I would take the extra time this morning to get my daily post out, which means I can know that I am still on target with my goal of writing one blog posting everyday for a year by 12/20/2011, and I won’t have to worry about it all day, if I don’t want to! πŸ˜‰

Oh, I also wanted to let you know that I will have a lot of pics to share with you tomorrow from EPIC. The place where I am having my computer class. They have a HUGE facility, which I am sure has to be worth billions, and they have an extremely large art collection. So, both yesterday and today, I am making a point of walking around and getting as many pictures as humanly possible without missing any of my class! They are quite spectacular, and I can not wait to share them with you!

Change of subject – I really can’t wait to get home to my sweetie today! I really miss him!Β  We are very close, almost co-dependent maybe, and it is quite the adjustment for either one of us when one or the other goes out of town. He is lover, husband, confidant, counselor, protector, boyfriend, playmate, and best friend!! I always look forward to his messages and pics that he sends when we are apart, it makes me feel like I am just a short hop, skip, and a jump away from him; and I really can’t wait to just climb into his arms this evening!!Β  I love you, B’Spoon!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I am not sure how else I am going to spend my extra free-time this morning, but I am sure that I will packed, and re-packed and ready to go long before I really should be!! But, that is alright with me!! I leave class at 4 today, on my first of two planes by 7 pm, and back home by 1 am – it can’t get here fast enough!!!

Have a FABULOUS day!! πŸ˜‰

A Night of Frantic Cleaning!

Good evening!

Well, all of my house cleaning procrastination is now catching up to me and trying to kick my booty!! My dad and his wife, Trudi are coming up for the weekend, and they will be here tomorrow! After telling myself I would get started on the art studio every day this week, I am FINALLY cleaning like a fiend!! I really want to make sure that they a nice comfortable place to sleep!! πŸ˜‰ As you may remember, our guest room was previously converted to an art studio quite some time ago, and I had told myself that I would make sure that I always have enough for a queen sized air mattress on the floor for guests – not the best accommodations, but waaaay better than sleeping on the floor! Anyway, it became VERY apparent that I had forgotten about my deal with myself about keeping room for a bed, because not only is my art studio, and art studio, but it, unfortunately, became a catch all for miscellaneous blankets, magazines, empty boxes – you know, a typical junk-room!!

SAD!

Anyway, I am making amazing headway, and I am happy to announce that dad and Trudi will have a nice place to sleep!!

Whew!! πŸ˜‰

Now, that just makes me have to wonder, what the heck are we going to do this weekend??

Hmmm…

Saturday Market? Maybe!

Go the movies? Possibly!

Spend a day at the coast? That could be fun!

We are going to a church band concert on Saturday evening, so that will be something fun!

In addition to that, I am sure that between 4 grown adults, we can figure SOMETHING out!! πŸ˜‰ I will try to remember to take a ton of pictures, and share them with you all weekend!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I have GOT TO GET BACK TO WORK!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

PS. Watching the new tele show called “Whitney” and I have to tell you I’m LOOOOOVING IT!!! I’m just sayin’!!!Β  πŸ˜‰

Chunky Dunkers!

Good evening!

Welcome to the Chunky Dunker’s Club! Chunky Dunker’s is an online get-fit/healthy support group that meets every Wednesday around 7PM Pacific Standard Time. The purpose of this group is to support and cheer each other on as we work our way towards our get fit and healthy goals, whether that is to lose 5 pounds, run a mile, or to cut caffiene from our diets – whatever your health and fitness goals are for you – we are here to support you. Every week I post a little something to help motivate you, or cheer you on, and we all get together in the comments section to chat.

This is not a closed group, so if you would like to join us, please feel free to do so, the more the merrier.

Anyway, this week’s topic is: Is there a correlation between clutter and weight?

I have been hearing a lot about how clutter may be directly related to your weight.

Hmmm…that could explain a lot!! LOL!

There is a message that says that there is a direct correlation between how much clutter you have in your life and how out of shape you are. I am a firm believer that your external is a true representation of your internal, so maybe that makes some sense. I think that if this is true, it is because without having to deal with a cluttery house/life you have more time/attention to plan and prepare your meals, you have more time to exercise. More order in our living environment makes us calmer inside our minds.

Could all of theΒ  stuffΒ  be like a protective security blanket in the same way that excess weight provides protection? It is enough to make a girl want to go take another load of miscellaneous stuff over to my local Goodwill! πŸ˜‰

What are your thoughts on clutter and weight? I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

A Night of Vision Boarding!

Good evening!

I have spent the past hour gathering pics from Polyvore to create an electronic Vision Board!!

The things that I am dreaming of is a passionate marriage, traveling, yoga, dancing, France, faith, family, friends, farm-living, photography, books, and a crystal chandelier for good measure!!

Anyway, I am getting back to journaling and time/goal management, which I realize are two different things, but I have found that since having not being consistent with these 2 things I have not been as happy as I normally am – not that I am sad, just not as happily as I could be! Nor am I getting as much done as I usually do! So, tomorrow morning, I am back to spending some time writing my morning pages, and I will have my to-do list written before I head to bed this evening!

Matter of fact, here it is:

  • At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise
  • Drink at least 2 liters of water
  • Take iron pill
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Eat a healthy lunch
  • Eat a healthy home-cooked dinner
  • Write morning pages
  • Morning skin care routine
  • Recycle at least 10 magazines
  • Do a load of dishes
  • 1/2 hour art studio clean
  • Put laundry away
  • Sweep floors
  • Spend at least 10 minutes meditating
  • Get in bed by9 pm

Ok, I think that list is long enough! πŸ˜‰

Oh, I wanted to share some micro goals that I have come up with:

  1. Lose 7.6 pounds
  2. Finish cleaning art studio
  3. Make sure all books in this house have a place to “live”

These are small enough that they will get me closer to a few of my big goals, and they are small enough as to not be overwhelming! πŸ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

PS. I will “see” you Chunky Dunkers tomorrow evening, at about 7-ish!! πŸ˜‰
