Another Day Another Dollar!

Well, as opposed to last night, I am being super productive this evening! I got less sleep last night, but my healthy eating is somehow giving me a burst of energy – oh yeah, and the walk I just got back from may have contributed to that pep too!! LOL! Quick side: check out the website Livestrong – it has been super fun and easy to use, not to mention FREE for the basic plan!!! Let me know your thoughts!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, what else? Ok, I am reading this new book that I just picked up, it is called, The Elements of Personal Style. This book was put out by the editors of Elle magazine, and this book is really inspiring. The tagline on the cover says, ’25 Modern Fashion Icons on How to Dress, Shop, and Live’. and HONEY, there is Diane von Ferstenburg (my FAVE!!!), Dita Von Teese (I think every woman needs to tap into what this woman has to feel sensual), Christina Hendricks (a real woman who rocks her sexy curves), Milla Jovovich (a woman who proves that you can be both stylish and strong), and Fergie (need I say more???), just to name a few of the featured fashion icons!!! It gives you style-based interviews with celebrities, inspiration boards and ideas on how to get the looks of the celebrities featured!! SO FABULOUS!!! not to mention colorful, insightful, interesting, and fun!!!Β  Check it out!!!

I am also busy going through my copy of the 2011 Entertainment Coupon Book – yes, I have finally reached that age where this MAMMOTH coupon book, really makes me happy!!! I know sad, but there you go!!

Happy Friday!!!

Yeah! I am sooooo thankful that Friday has finally arrived!! YEAH!!! Anyone else needing this Friday as much as I do??? Not only that, but my boss gave me the thumbs up to leave 2-1/2 hours early!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!! πŸ˜‰

Does anyone have any great plans for this weekend?? I don’t have anything too terribly exciting planned, but we do have a couple of fun things going on. Date night tonight, a game of frisbee golf in the park tomorrow, and who knows…

Sorry, my post tonight was interrupted by a call from my sis-in-law! You see my sweetie has size 17/18 feet, and to find him shoes is quite an undertaking. So, everyone in the family knows that when they find shoes that size, especially if they are on sale they are to either pick them up, or call us and we will go check them out. So, out the door we flew, to the other side of town, and unfortunately, the shoes that were found were too narrow! DARN!!!

Anyway, since we were on that side of town, and it is our date night, so we decided to do a little book shopping after a dinner out. NOW YOU KNOW I WILL NEVER TURN DOWN AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOP FOR BOOKS!!!

The books that I picked up are:

Before You Put That On

Well, I am going to go watch a movie with my sweetie, and start this WEEKEND!!! YEAH!!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!

Wednesday Update!

I LOST 6.6 POUNDS!!! YEAH!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!!

I am not sure what to say about that but I am really proud that my hard work is paying off!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I am tired, I have been working out like a fiend today. I have incorporated mini walks throughout my day, I didn’t you use the elevator at all today, and I spent a rambunctiously fun time swimming with family this evening!!! WHEW!!! πŸ˜‰

I received a new/old book in the mail yesterday. It is a book that Diane von Furstenburg wrote in 1976, and it is about beauty, style and being your sensual self! So far I am loving it!!! I am hoping to get this read quickly!!! The advice is very sensible and is still applicable to today’s woman!!! It is really GREAT to hear her thoughts, she seems like a kindred spirit, or a long lost sister or something!!

Anyway, I am heading off to bed!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

Wednesday Hump Day!!

Ok, not that kind of hump day…hmmm…at least not YET anyway!!! LOL!!

I have had a pretty good day today! I just got home from work and finished some house chores. My sweetie is grilling some chicken out back and I have got the veggies all ready to go! YUM! We have some peppy music playing, and every once in a while, Jason will stop wherever I am at, and spin me around so we can start dancing! God, I love that man!!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I will put my feet back on the ground – at lease momentarily!!!Β  I have been doing some more research on Diane von Furstenburg, and I ran across some of her really AWESOME quotes, and I can see why I just LOVE her soooo much!!!

“Attitude is everything.”

“I design for the woman who loves being a woman.”

“I travel light. I think the most important thing is to be in a good mood and enjoy life, wherever you are.”

“You’re always with yourself so you might as well enjoy the company.”

“Now is the time to become a myth.”

and my favorite that I ran across today:

“Absence is to love what wind is to fire. When it’s a small fire the wind kills it, but when it’s a real fire, wind intensifies it!”

As I sit here listening to “I Don’t Care Who Knows” by Catherine Russell, I realize that life is really GOOD!!! I am so blessed in my life!!!

This is isn’t the best video of this song, and I know the lyrics are really hard to understand, but it is basically saying that “I don’t care who knows, I love my man!!!” πŸ˜‰ Every time this song comes on, I just can’t help but dance around!!

As for dinner, I am cooking some onions tonight to go with dinner, and I LOVE them!!! They are my favorite vegetable right now!! now I must admit I don’t make them the most healthily, but they are sooooo freaking’ good! !!

Dice one over sized sweet Walla Walla onion, in thin slices. Add butter to pan, about 1 tbsp per 1/2 an onion – depending on size (I add one extra tbsp for good measure)! Cook on med-high until translucent, then turn heat down to low, and make sure the onions are evenly distributed in the pan. Next, this is key – DON’T TOUCH UNTIL BROWNED!!! then flip and do this again, until all slices are gorgeously brown – I do this about 4 – 5 times!!! and I am telling you, the onion is sooooo perfectly carmelized! The onion will have reduced by more than 1/2, so 1/2 an onion is perfect for one person (I can eat a whole carmelized onion as a meal all by itself!!!)

I received a book in the mail today, it is called “Junk Chic”. and so far, I am loving it! I also love that the book cost me less than $5, including shipping and handling! I have two more on their way now, they are both books by or about Diane von Furstenburg – SHOCKED??? No, probably not!! HAHAHA! πŸ˜‰

I am also going through a bunch of new pictures from our camping trip with my sis-in-law and her family! Some of these are really GREAT!!! I will make it a point to post some of these for you tomorrow!!

Ok, so I realize that my thoughts are just wandering all over the place, but I think I am going to take this new found energy and go for a walk!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!

My New Muse!

I have discovered my new muse!

Diane von Furstenberg

I know that Diane has been around forever. She is a fashion designer who knows how to design for a woman’s body. She is also the famous designer that invented the iconic wrap dress, which unfortunately, since I don’t have a waist, I have never been able to pull off – GO FIGURE! πŸ˜‰

She also created the saying, “Feel like a woman, wear a dress!” Something that I have just recently learned and have come to believe in my own fashion-filled life!!! πŸ˜‰

Enjoy some of her collections:

Aren’t her designs just DIVINE??? Oh how Iwish I had one of everything, and I would always be the belle of the ball!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!!

Daily Post!

I know that it is only Tuesday, but I am soooo looking forward to this weekend. I know that I just got back from camping, but my sweetie and I are going with my sis, Nette, Michael and all of their kiddos. I think we are going to Florence, but I have to call tonight and find out where for sure!! I am excited! If we have as much fun as we had this last weekend, then it will be a great time!!

Ok, so a little more about this last weekend. Jason and I really had a lot of fun. Jason was totally in his element, running from campsite, to campsite, helping anyone who asked – that is what he lives for, he is my happy-helper man!! I had the most fun getting to know more of my family members, and playing with my nephews. Aaron and Gavin were in our campsite, and I just had SOOOO MUCH FUN playing mom! Ok, well honestly I was totally part-time mom because I didn’t feed them or sleep with them, ok – so I guess that is called being AUNTIE!! YEAH!!!

You can probably can tell, I am soooo distracted tonight – I am watching On the Road with Austin & Santino. I am trying really hard to get through my DVR before we leave town again! and I just LOVE this show! They are soooo sweet, some of their designs are a little ‘different’,Β  but they are ingenious that they are able to make the dresses that that they are able to with a limited amount of resources and a limited amount of time!!! I would LOVE to let them make something GORGEOUS for me!!! Today they are making a wedding dress. Ok, so CONFESSION TIME!! I am soooo damn hormonal!!! They just showed the bride her dress for the first time, and I actually just starting tearing up!!! Ok, I am pulling it together!!! πŸ˜‰ This dress is pretty, and frilly, and girly, and just beautiful! Austin and Santino just come across as so sincere, and they really treat their client du jour as the most important woman, and she really gets their absolute best. I LOVE THIS SHOW!!

Alright, so I am going to go spend some time with my sweetie before bed!

Thought of the Day:

“People love to tell you that you can’t do it, if you have a feeling inside that you really want to do something, you just go do it, you just do it, that is all there is to it!” ~ Danny Devito

I am still struggling to figure out what I am supposed to be when I grow up, but I am just looking for the signs! Opportunities for growth, improvement, and all around happiness, and fitting with my natural talents and personalities!!! In the mean time I am just going to live, live, live, and make as many memories as possibles on the way!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

A Quickie Post!

Hello! It has been a long day, I am thoroughly tired, and am eager to climb into my comfy bed!!!

So, before I go I just wanted to give you a topic that has been on my mind for the past couple of nights, and that is:

If you had to choose only 6 garments of clothing to make up your ENTIRE wardrobe for one month what would you choose???

Just in case you are curious, this is what I would choose:

  1. Simple Little Dress
  2. Perfectly Tailored Black Slacks
  3. My Favorite Blue Jeans
  4. A Versatile Black Blazer
  5. A perfect fitting White Tee
  6. A Wrinkle-Free Button Down White Shirt

List your 6 items in the comment section above.

Have a FABULOUS evening!!

A New Wineskin!

Ok, so as all of you may have caught on by now is that my work life is SUPER stressful at the moment! I have taken on a bunch of new job duties that are soooo far out of my comfort zone that it is really kinda freakin’ me out!!! Anyway, I get a little devotional e-mailed to me every day, and this morning the message was Heaven sent!! The message this morning was about wine skins.

β€œAnd no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined” (Luke 5:37, NIV).

A summation of the devtional:

Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? In order to move forward into the blessing God has for you, you have to be willing to let go of the old. The things that are behind you are not nearly as important as what is out in front of you. It’s time to get ready for the β€œnew”!

This message just seemed to be tailor-made just for me! It helped me keep this in mind today; that I have to be challenged so that I can be stretched (figuratively), and expand for what God has in store for the next chapter of my life. Man, I CAN NOT wait to see what He has in store for me next!!!

OK, so onto matters of the home!!! As promised I told you I would post some pics of my walk-in closet! This is literally my FAVORITE place in my home!!! My nieces call it the “Fancy Room”, and let me tell you we have THE BEST time getting all DOLLED UP in HERE!!! πŸ˜‰

This little Happy sign just sums it all up!!! πŸ˜‰

This is part of my costume jewelry collection, and bag collection!

More costume jewelry, my new Cherry print purse, and a few of my babies – my shoes!!! πŸ˜‰

Scarves, pants, skirts, more shoes, some jammies (yes, I hang those up – I LOVE seeing my clothes!!!)

shirts, folded sweaters, more bags!

Blazers, shirts, more blazers!

My ever growing dress collection!

My FAVORITE Ikea boxes/storage!

Some pics of some of my favorite people, large collection of journals, books (of course), and my mom’s chiming clock!

More pics of special people in my life, my favorite hat, perfumes, lotions, costume jewelry, hair accessories, and at the top – Audrey! Ok, so Audrey Hepburn is the theme of my entire bedroom/walk-in closet. Such grace, such elegance, such poise, and OH SO FASHIONABLE!!!

Oh, and if you move my hanging pants – you will find the secret romance novel bookshelf that my sweetie built just for me!!!

Have I told you that I just LOVE this closet???? Ok, I will behave and get on with it!!!

As for my Visual Nutrition Plan:

Today is day 14 of my 30-Day-Self-Created-Visual-Nutrition-Plan!! I can eat whatever I want, but I have to take a picture of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I eat and post it on this blog – and have to be willing to take any criticism I might incur!!! The knowledge that I have to take pics and post everything that I have eaten has really curbed a couple of poor choices!! Although, an occasional treat can sometimes be DIVINE!!!

So here are today’s eats:

Breakfast: Bagel, light cream cheese and sugar-free, fat-free iced mocha

Lunch: Nachos – I was having a bad moment of weakness, and was needing something homey!! Trust me, I was paying for that on the porcelain throne ALL afternoon!! UGH!! I will have to remember that the next time I need something “Homey”!

Dinner: A great big side salad, with more salad, grilled teriyaki chicken, and one beef rib

Snack: Some dark chocolate strawberries that my hubby and I made together!

Ok, so this was the LONGEST blog posting ever!!! So, I will let you go!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!!

I’m Here, I’m Here!

Today has been a pretty good day! Work was long, and hard, and stressful, but I always love a challenge!!! I did make a pit stop at Goodwill! I have decided that if I MUST buy books, then I might as well buy them super cheap, and I did!!! I just LOVE retail therapy!! Especially CHEAP RETAIL THERAPY!!!! πŸ˜‰

I have been in a girly-glam kind of mood most of today. Here are some of the things that have been popping into my mind all day!!!

Dancing with the Ya-Ya Sisters

Diva lashes

A dripping chandelier

A chic little black veil

All things Chanel

A luxurious feather wreath

What could be girlier then cupcakes???

Tiara anyone? πŸ˜‰

Anyway, on with my Visual Nutrition Plan, I know I have been MIA the past few days, the only excuse I had was that I had family here all weekend, and I just didn’t make my nutrition a priority this weekend, and the fact that I have gained a pound in 3 days is proof enough to get back on track again!!! πŸ™‚

Today is day 12 of my 30-Day-Self-Created-Visual-Nutrition-Plan!!

So, here are today’s eats:

Breakfast: Sugar-free, iced, fat-free mocha, bagel with light cream cheese

Lunch: Grilled cheese sandwich with sweet potato french fries

Dinner: Grilled chicken breast with grilled corn on the cob

3 meals, what a concept?? I know that this is a departure from my normal 5-6 mini meals a day, but I have been sooo busy at work that I find that this is the only way I can fit my meals in right now!

So, let’s see, what else? Well, I am super excited about this weekend. I am taking my dad out to the little beach house for a special Father’s Day weekend. I am not exactly sure what we are going to do yet, but that is part of the fun of going to the beach house – no responsibilities, no schedules, no to-do lists!!! YEAH!!! I can’t wait!!!

Have a FABULOUS GIRLY-GLAM evening!!!

Monday Night Book Night!

Tonight is book review night, and the book that I chose to review is called, Nesting it’s a Chick Thing. This book is such a fun read, and I highly recommend it anyone who wants to laugh, cry, and just learn more about living a FABULOUS life! Trust me on this, pick this book up!! It is like reading a creatively chic blog in paperback!!! FUN! FUN! FUN!!!

But why listen to me? Here is an editorial review from Publishers Weekly:

While Beanland and Terry do care about having a nice home, throwing fantastic parties and whipping up fabulous dinners, they have better things to do than polish the silver. The coauthors of It’s a Chick Thing: Celebrating the Wild Side of Women’s Friendships throw Martha Stewart-esque caution to the wind in this lifestyle guide with attitude, irreverently addressing the “four pillars of nesting”: decorating, entertaining, cooking and gardening. In each section, they give a basic overview of how to approach the task at hand, and then delve into the nitty-gritty, with sidebars, lists, pull-out quotes from celebrities and quirky clip art, all with a can-do, girl power mind-set, evident in the inclusion of such lines as “I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house” (from Zsa Zsa Gabor). Among other tidbits, readers will find cocktail recipes, flea market shopping tips, party invitation ideas, suggestions for creating a garden that suits their personality and reasons to give Martha some credit (“the chick can carve a pumpkin 200 ways and make 65 recipes from the seeds alone!”).
