Megan Night!!

Good evening!

Tonight is Megan night!! We haven’t had one of those in quite a while!! I w beginning to wonder what she even looked like!! LOL!!! Tonight she pretty much has free reign to decide what we are going to be doing for the evening!!! So far we have gone to the theatre and watched Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It was pretty stinkin’ fun! It is so cool to watch Megan watch a movie. She just gets so into it, kinda like when I take her out and we go people watching!!! and I just LOVE her commentary, being 8, she has such a cool perception of the things that happen in movies!! 😉

Right now Jason and her are playing the video game Cars together!! They are just so cute!! Jason is playing really slow so she has some time to learn how to use her controller. Later on this evening, we are going to pack our stuff up and go hit the pool, and maybe swing by Cold Stone  and have a little ice cream, before getting ready for bed!!

Tomorrow she has requested that we go to “the downtown” tomorrow!! She is VERY EXCITED to be doing that! I am not exactly sure what we have planned, but I do know that she is getting a manicure from her auntie tomorrow!!! She LOVES that, I LOVE doing that for her!!

Now about my week. Work has been alright! I have been working really late most every day this week, although I did promise Megan that I wouldn’t work AT ALL this weekend – if you remember, last time she spent the night, I had to work ALL FREAKIN’ WEEKEND!!! It really was a bummer, so I am hoping to make it up to her this weekend!!! Oh, back to work, well, I think there is finally light at the end of our busy tunnels, but it hope is coming, that is all that matters!!!

Jason has been doing AMAZING at helping around the house, and doing little things here and there to show his love and support! It has been rough for him, not being steadily employed, but I truly appreciate all that he has done for us!!! I couldn’t do what I do, and stay sane, without him! I feel like I have my old Jason back!! He just seems so much more relaxed, and he is excited to LIVE again! For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, you know that he has had a rough couple of years, with one tragedy after another that he was having to deal with, but I must say that he is doing GREAT!! I am just sooo proud of him!!! I LOVE YOU, BABY!! I STILL THANK GOD FOR YOU!!! 😉

Well, I am going to see if I can rustle up the “kids” to get off of their game so we can go swimming!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! 😉

Happy St. Patty’s Day!!

Good evening!!

Are you wearing your green today?? I am!!!

I thought today it would be fun to share some fun facts about St Patrick’s Day:

  1. St Patrick wasn’t Irish. The man whom the holiday honors was born in Britain to Roman parents in the third century. As a teenager, he was kidnapped and spirited away to Ireland, where he was enslaved and forced to work as a shepherd for seven years.
  2. JFK forgot St Patrick’s Day. You’d think the first Irish-American president would have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day like no other commander in chief, but it wasn’t so. When Ireland’s ambassador to America, then Thomas Kiernan, met with President John Kennedy in the Oval Office 50 years ago, he presented the president with a bowl of shamrocks flown in from Ireland and a decorated scroll featuring the Kennedy coat of arms. Kennedy was delighted with the gifts, but had forgotten it was St. Patrick’s Day until just before the meeting. A staffer had to rush to find him something green to wear, settling on a tie.
  3. There are more Irish Americans than Irish. Some 36.5 million Americans claim Irish heritage, according to the US Census Bureau. Ireland, on the other hand, has a population of about 6 million.
  4. The Chicago River runs green. Chicago is famous for dyeing the Chicago River green on St. Patrick’s Day. The tradition began in 1962, when a pipe fitters union—with the permission of the mayor—poured a hundred pounds (45 kilograms) of green vegetable dye into the river. (On the job, the workers often use colored dyes to track illegal sewage dumping.) Today only 40 pounds (18 kilograms) of dye are used, enough to turn the river green for several hours.
  5. In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, people traditionally wear a small bunch of shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear orange, white and green badges, and women and girls wear green ribbons in their hair.
  6. The name “lephrechaun” has several origins. It could be from the Irish Gaelic word “leipreachan,” which means “a kind of aqueous sprite.” Or, it could be from “leath bhrogan,” which means “shoemaker.”
  7. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14!
  8. One estimate suggests that there are about 10 000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.
  9. Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.
  10. The shamrock is the traditional symbol because St. Patrick used it to explain the connection between the father, the son, and the holy spirit in the Christian religion.
  11. On average, every American consumes 22 gallons of beer per year.
  12. The children and grandchildren of people born in Ireland can obtain dual citizenship with the US and Ireland.
  13. At one time, there were more Irish living in New York City, than in Dublin, Ireland.
  14. Corned beef is strictly an American invention, the Irish don’t actually eat it to celebrate the day.
  15. St. Patrick’s isn’t a big drinking holiday in Ireland. In fact, many of the local pubs are closed for the day.
  16. Leprechauns are the official shoe makers of the fairy kingdom.
  17. Shamrocks are the national flower of Ireland and are picked on St. Patrick’s Day and worn on the shoulder.
  18. The ancient Irish used to wear green to show their love for the harvest gods.
  19. Over 41.5 billion pounds of beef are produced each year for St. Patrick’s Day, with the majority of it coming from Texas and over 2.5 billion pounds of cabbage are produced with the majority grown in California.
  20. Over 8 million St. Patrick’s Day cards are exchanged in America making today the ninth-largest card selling occasion in the US.
  21. Over 94 million people plan to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.
  22. The original Guinness Brewery in Dublin has a 9,000 year lease.
  23. The Oscar was handcrafted by an Irishman, Cedric Gibbons, who was born in Dublin in 1823.
  24. In Seattle, there is a ceremony where a green stripe is painted down the roads.
  25. Most people attend mass in the morning and then attend the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
  26. The phrase, “Drowning The Shamrock” is from the custom of floating the shamrock on the top of whiskey before drinking it. The Irish believe that if you keep the custom, then you will have a prosperous year.
  27. In the United States, it’s customary to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. But in Ireland the color was long considered to be unlucky, says Bridget Haggerty, author of The Traditional Irish Wedding and the Irish Culture and Customs Web site.  As Haggerty explains, Irish folklore holds that green is the favorite color of the Good People (the proper name for faeries). They are likely to steal people, especially children, who wear too much of the color.
  28. By law, pubs in Ireland were closed on St. Patrick’s Day, a national religious holiday, as recently as the 1970s.
  29. Guinness stout, first brewed by Arthur Guinness in Dublin, Ireland, in 1759, has become synonymous with Ireland and Irish bars. According to the company’s Web site, 1,883,200,000 (that’s 1.9 billion) pints of Guinness are consumed around the world every year.
  30. Robert Louis Stevenson, the 19th-century Scottish author of Kidnapped, Treasure Island, and other novels, brought a store of Guinness with him during a trip to Samoa in the South Pacific, according to the Guinness Web site.
  31. Ireland is about 300 miles (480 kilometers) long and 200 miles (320 kilometers) wide. Those facts, along with other features, led Swedish geographer Ulf Erlingsson to recently conclude that the Atlantic Ocean island is the same one identified by ancient Greek philosopher Plato as Atlantis in his famous dialogues Timaeus and Critias.

As I spend this St Patty’s Day with my husband, who by the way, I get to pinch because he isn’t wearing his green!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! 😉

The Chunky Dunker’s Club, Week 3

Good evening!

Welcome to our 3rd weekly meeting of the The Chunky Dunker’s Club!

Every week I post a new Chunky Dunker’s article ever Wednesday evening, and you have the opportunity to comment, and cheer each other as you each go through your journey to get fit and healthy!!! We will discuss hints, tips, and ideas on losing weight, staying motivated, and achieving your fitness goals, whether that is to lose 5 pounds, to do 10 sit-ups, or just incorporate some healthy habits into your daily life!!

Tonight’s topic is Finding your own personal motivation:

I have to confess! I had every intention of doing all the right things this week; eat right, exercise, drink water, meditate, take time for myself, etc. etc. etc. I found that what actually happened is that I just kinda dabbled at everything. Not too bad, but not to good either!! You know what I mean? I walked once or twice, or I drank water on this day, but not so much on that day – I think I realized that I haven’t yet come up with a compelling reason to get into shape. I know I want to, but why do I want to??? I want a reason that when I think of IT JAZZES ME and gets me excited about doing all of these healthy actions that I may not necessarily want to do. You know, something that makes me WANT to GET UP AND DO SOMETHING!!!

So, I thought a little bit about it, and I decided to write one paragraph that describes what I want to do/be/have now that I am fit (dreaming in the present tense). Here is my paragraph:

I have had such an AMAZING time on this health and fitness journey that I have been on for the past year. I can’t imagine EVER going back to my old life!!! I have been able to do and accomplish more than I ever dreamed possible! If you would have asked me a year ago if I thought I would ever be able to run a mile again, I probably would have laughed out loud. Now, not only can I run a mile, I can actually run 2 in one go. ISN’T THAT AMAZING??? The new me can now keep up with all of our nieces and nephews, which has made getting together with them so much more fun! I feel better now then I did as a teenager!! I am stronger, more flexible, and have WAAAAAY more energy than I thought I would EVER have. My sweetie and I are like young lovers again and we are preparing for our trip to Paris. HONEY, we are going to be WALKING FOOLS when we get there! There is going to be NO STOPPING US!!! We seem to be able to walk for HOURS without puttering out, just ask the old us if that were even possible, UHM….NO!!!! You could have NEVER said that about the old us!!! I am really proud of all of our accomplishments! I can’t WAIT to see WHAT IS NEXT IN STORE FOR US!!!

When I read this paragraph, it TOTALLY motivates me to get up, to make the hard choices, and to not procrastinate!!!! I know that I am worth this, and so are all of my friends and family. Those with us now, and those to come.

Your assignment this week is to write your own paragraph. Write your paragraph as if you have already achieved your goals, it should motivate, inspire you, and cause you to WANT to take ACTION!! I can’t wait to read them all!!! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!

GO CHUNKY DUNKERS!!!
😉

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! 😉

A Tired Tuesday!

Good evening!

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get to my posting today. I have been really busy! However, here I am!!! Today has been a long day, and as soon as I got home from work this evening, I went upstairs washed the makeup off my face, let down my hair, and slipped into my MOST COMFORTABLE pj’s!!!

I wanted to share some more pics from last night, but I am having some issues with my pics. You see, everyone was bowling, and when you are taking pictures from behind while someone is bowling – what do you see? Well, how do I put this, I took a lot of pictures of booties, bums, behinds, bottoms, butts, buckets, cans, keisters, kabooses, derierres, fannies, ba-dunk-a-dunks – I think you will see what I mean! So, who am I not to share?

Morgan’s bum:

Megan’s Bum:

David’s Bum:

John’s Bum:

Christopher’s Bum:

Jason’s Bum:

Nette’s Bum:

and last but not least, Michael’s Bum:

Being behind the camera, my bum was spared the joy of your viewing pleasure!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! 😉

Note to Chunky Dunkers: Here is one of my FAVORITE ways to eat pumpkin. Get one can of pumpkin, 1 small tub of lite cool whip, and one package of jell-o pudding mix, mix all 3 ingredients in a bowl, and refrigerate – or eat right away. This is a really yummy, and filling way to get more vegetables into your diet!! I hope you enjoy!! 😉

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Good evening!

My self-appointed job at all family functions is to take pictures, and as I was going through the pics this evening, I ran across this pic, and it made me realize just how much of a little boy my nephew, Morgan, really is.

You see, tonight was my nephew, Morgan’s, 5th birthday party. The kids all had pizza, and then we met up to go bowling. Morgan has always been really big for his age, he is going to take after my sweetie, his “Uncle Jay-Jay” who just happens to be 6’7″ and wears a size 18 shoe! Morgan is bigger than all of the other kids his age, and can easily pass of for a little boy who is 7 or 8, even though he is just today turning 5.

The party this evening quickly came to an end when in a fit of despair, Morgan cried out,

“Now my birthday party is ruined!”

He wasn’t listening to the adults when he was told not to do something, and he decided to do it anyway, which temporarily got one of his new toys taken away. Well, you would have thought that the world was coming to an end how that normally sweet little boy just carried on and on and on! There was crying, and moaning, and wailing, and all sorts of foolishness – and that was just the grownups! Just kidding!!! It was really Morgan – he was sure that there was no way that he was going to be able to salvage his party after the loss of his new toy.

This picture reminded me that Morgan is still a little guy, trying to find his way out in the world, often times being expected to act the part of much older kids, and sometimes there are going to be nights when he has had too much excitement and has become tired, that “drama” has just got to happen. No matter what, we love our little man!!

Morgan, we love you buddy!!!
May this year be…
Full of fun,
playing,
adventures,
and yes, sometimes even drama!! 😉
Happy Birthday and WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! 😉

My Flexible Saturday!

Good evening!

I have had a really nice day today! If you read my post this morning, you know that I was heading out for a day downtown.

My first stop was my favorite clothing store, Torrid. I had ordered a cardigan that had come in, and I had some items that I needed to return so I was happy to oblige the need to go! Here is a pic of the cardigan that I took in the store last week.

So, of course, I just HAD to try on some clothes!!! You know, to get ready for Spring!!! 😉 This is a pic of the clothes I had picked out to try on – I had planned on taking my time and being there for quite a while!

What you may not be able to see is that these clothes are hung two levels deep! I really was determined to find the perfect somethings!!

Here is what I wore there:

This cute little top came home with me.

Cardigan, yep, that one came home too!

Another white blouse, guilty! Although, as you can see from the picture, this one is going to need some kind of undershirt. I am actually debating taking this one back, what do you think??

After I tried this shirt on, I got a call from my dad. My dad, and his wife, Trudi were in town, by my house and wanted to visit, so I cut my downtown trip short, and zipped over back to my side of town. Once I got home, we headed over to a pizza place for yummy pizza and a very nice visit. On my way, I told myself, “Self, don’t forget to take pics this time!” and of course, I did!! So, unfortunately, no pics!! Maybe next time!!! 😉

After Dad and Trudi went home, I didn’t want to go back to downtown – we are trying to conserve gas, and I was looking forward to getting a manicure, so I was going to get bummed about it, but instead of throwing a pity party for myself, I decided to step up the loveliest nail salon – the one I had created in my living room!!! You can see that they even served me a refreshing drink with cherries – YUM!! 😉

My hands were in need of some SERIOUS attention!

Here is the before shot:

Here is the after:

Of course I chose red! It is still my FAVORITE color! The color of PASSION!!! 😉

That is the end of my pictures for today, but I did get to run a couple of other errands and then spend some time hanging out with my sweetie after he got done with work today. After I am done here, I plan on snuggling with him on the couch and watch another episode of BONES!! I really do LOVE that show! Bones and Booth should just knock off all of this foolishness and just get together already!! WHEW! I am glad that is out in the open!!! 😉 We are still somewhere into season two, so it will takes a month or three more to get caught up, but slowly and surely – we will get there!!

OH, and for those who might be curious, I came home from Torrid after purchasing 3 cardigans, 2 blouses, 1 tank top and 1 blazer!! EEK!!! Maybe I had better stay away from the mall for a while, what do you think??? HEE! HEE! HEE!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! 😉

Note to Chunky Dunker’s: Dress for your body as it is today! Even if you are in the process of losing weight. Purchasing clothes that are too small for yourself because you may fit into them someday could backfire, and you will wind up with a closet full of a lot of somethings that make you feel bad because you can’t fit into them. (Take my word on that!) YOU CAN DO IT!!! 😉

Getting Back to the Basics!

Good evening!!

This seems like it has been a really crazy busy day!!! I have just gotten home from a REALLY REALLY LOOOONG day of work, a quick run to pick up a couple of my FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME, Pride and Prejudice, and The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (both in hardback, for my collection), and then dashed off to the grocery store to pick up dinner!!! WHEW!!!

Now I am going to confide something to you that maybe not a lot of people know about me, and for some of you this may be TMI, BUT, I LOVE when I get to come home, slip my shoes off at the door, get something cold to drink, tonight it is sugar free Orange Creme sparkling water, hang up the work blazer, and slip OUT OF MY UNDERWIRE BRA!!!! WHOOOO-BABY!!!! Now, I realize I might have just lost some of you there, but HONEY!! I am TELLING YOU!!! Talk about that feeling of, “LOOK, HONEY, I’M HOME!!” SAH-WHEET BLISS!! 😉

Thank you for letting me share that with you!! LOL! My sweetie and I are getting ready to sit down to a really late, light dinner, and then, of course, we are going to watch another episodes of Bones tonight. We are still playing catchup on NetFlix, and watch on average one episode per day, which is pretty good seeing they are about 45 minutes a piece!!

Hey, I just realized that if I wanted to, I could do exercises for 45 minutes while watching Bones every day, just to make sure that I get my time in. If I have time enough for Bones, I surely have time for EXERCISE!! What do you think???

I also picked up a copy of Martha Stewart Living this evening, I haven’t read through one of those in over 10 years – WOW! Has it really been that long!?? I remember when Jason and I were first married we didn’t have a lot of money for any kind of material things are for doing much more than finding free stuff to do, but if I was ever having a particularly rough week, my sweetie would manage to rustle up the funds to go pick up a copy of this magazine for me. I would just spend a whole lazy afternoon skimming through pictures, reading the articles, getting inspired, and dreaming about my future life that I just knew I was going to have – I may have to spend some time doing that this weekend!!! Simply DIVINE!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!

Note to Chunk Dunker’s: Take some time to reward yourself for a job well done today! Look for something that you did well, it could be large or small, and treat yourself to some pampering, time with a friend, maybe some flowers?? You will not only feel great about doing something good for yourself, but you will reinforce your positive behavior and it may subconsciously help you want to do that good action again!! GO CHUNKY DUNKER’S!!!

Tsunami Friday!

I usually start every blog by saying, “Good morning!”, but this morning that feels a little disrespectful to all of the people in the world today affected by the massive 8.9 earthquake that hit Japan, and the resulting Tsunami that is still spreading its way across the Pacific.

For some reason, I was still up at 12:30 this morning, and I just felt like I had to check the news, which I NEVER do in the middle of the night! I was shocked by the news that I read, and my heart and prayers immediately went to all of the family members of anyone who has been directly effected by these natural disasters. It sounds like the 8.9 earthquake was just a portion of the events that literally shook Japan, as they are still dealing with all sorts of aftershocks, some of which are still considered quite large.

As I think on these people that I do not even know, it also reminds me to take stock of the people in my life that are the most important to me; friends and family that would be effected by losing me, or vice versa, me losing them!! I shudder to think of it. As you go through out your day today, I pray that you are safe, loved, and are even able to be happy!!

Have a FABULOUS BLESSED day!
