Good morning, world!

This morning, I am getting a little bit later start than normal. My hubby and I slept in a little bit, which was really nice, and oh-so-needed!! πŸ™‚

Jason has zipped off to go get some eggs this morning. He is the breakfast chef in our world! YEAH!!! πŸ˜‰ I am in charge of making green smoothies, and dinners…well, at least the nights where I haven’t completely drained all of my energies working these insane hours!!! πŸ˜‰ Last night he brought home Yum Bowls – OMG – those are soooo freaking good!!!

Today, since Jason is off work today, we are supposed to go have an outing of some sort, but I think I am going to put a kibosh on that, since we are so far behind on packing the house up!! We have a family event happening from 11.17 to 11.26, which means we will be unavailable to do any packing then, so we have got to get cracking!!! πŸ˜‰

So, our first stop will have to be U-haul and pick up some packing boxes for our books. I have been packing up the small U-haul boxes with books, but holy hell they are soooooo freaking heavy!!! Jason discovered that U-haul now has smaller boxes, made just for packing books!! AAAAAAAH!!! Do you hear the angels singing?…no?…me either, that actually looks like screeching, but trust me, those are angels in the high heavens singing really LOUD!!! I have no idea how much they are going to cost, but I know that our backs are going to thank us for packing the rest of our 2,000+ books in smaller boxes!!

Crap! We are going to need A LOT of boxes!!! πŸ™‚

Ok, so I guess if that is the biggest snafu we run into while moving, we are going to be just fine!!

Maybe we can do our outing tomorrow?
Yeah, that is what we will do!
That will make me feel better!!

Ok, now that that is settled!! I am going to get a crackin’ on our day!!

Here is to a day of getting the important sh*t done!!

I’m Back!!

Good afternoon!

This year Jason and I stayed in town and spent Thanksgiving with his family! After some gentle prodding from my sister, Alexa, I am very excited to share some of our family’s Thanksgiving dinner pictures with you! πŸ™‚

1Here is my sweetie proudly carving the Thanksgiving turkey!! Can you see the pride on his face??? πŸ™‚

2Check out this spread!! Everyone brought a little something to share in the feast!! πŸ™‚

3It was CROWDED!!! It was decided that if we wanted to try and squeeze any more people into my sister’s place, we were going to have to rent a hall!! πŸ˜‰

4Here’s some of the crowd!! From left to right, Morgan, Jason, me, Rudy, Alyssa, Kayla, Derrick, Anna, Gabriel (only the top of his head is showing), Megan, Julian, and Jordan!

5Here is Grandma and Grandpa Feskens, and I am not sure what has Morgan laughing – but I LOVE seeing him look so happy!! πŸ˜‰ The kids did such a great job being patient and waiting for everyone to get to the table, so that we could pray, before they could eat!! There was almost an audible cheer when the kids were finally given permission to eat!!

6Here is mom hanging out in comfy chair that was tucked in the corner!!! The BEST seat in the house! πŸ™‚

7Derrick and Anna! I am not sure what they were discussing, but aren’t they cute?? πŸ™‚

8My niece, Kayla, and I! πŸ™‚ I love this little fancy girl!! πŸ™‚

A Weight Loss Progress Update!

???????????????????????????????Good evening!

I thought I would just stop rather quickly this evening and give you all an update on how my weight loss progress has been going!! Since April of 2012, I have lost a total of 105 pounds. For the past couple of months I have been fluctuating between a loss of 102 pounds and 106 pounds lost in total!! So….with that in mind, I take body measurements every week. I measure my neck, underbust, waist, hips, right thigh, right calf, right bicep, and right forearm, and so far I have lost 50 inches in total! To me, that is more astounding that the 105 pound loss, in all honesty!! πŸ™‚

My actual pounds lost is still going really slowly, but, and this a BIG BUT, my sweetie and I have started running most every morning!! We run a couple of loops in our neighborhood, one is very hilly and extremely difficult, and the other is hilly but a little more rolling hill in nature, AKA easier!! This has been really exciting to me, because what started out taking me 40 minutes to complete, now takes me about 32 minutes to complete. I can feel myself getting stronger and my recovery time is much faster than it has ever been. I am starting to get a taste of what being fit actually feels like – and let me tell you…all of the hard work is sooooo worth it!! πŸ˜‰

???????????????????????????????

Not only have we been running, but this past weekend my sweetie, and one of our nieces and nephews went on a 10 mile hike out at Silver Creek Falls, and let me tell you, that was NO SMALL FEAT!!! In all honesty, I was so surprised that I was able to do it that I almost cried when we got back to the car!! Who knew how much life I was actually missing being 330 pounds??? All I can keep saying is that life is so good. LIFE IS SOOOOO VERY VERY GOOD!!! πŸ˜‰

My sweetie was so inspired by our hike that even thought we were dog tired by the time we got home, my sweetie started looking for a 5k to get us signed up for, that very evening!! So, without my knowledge or consent, he has us signed up for a 5K run tomorrow evening!! LOL!! I say that jokingly because on one hand I was like, “hey, you wanna make sure I’m game before you go throwing my name in the ring???” but then again, I am pretty excited about running a 5K with him. I have run an unofficial 5K already, but I am going to do it again, because my sweetie doesn’t feel like he can cross this off of his life list until he has an official number from his run (you know the kind of number that you wear when in a race??) Well, that is what he wants, and so here we are!!

Life is good!! I know we are both feeling better than we have at any time in either our twenties or thirties (up to now), and I just couldn’t imagine ever going back to where we started from!!!

By the way, these pictures that I have posted this evening are just two of a plethora of pics I took while out on our hike! I will have a BUNCH more pictures from our hike posted hopefully in the next day or so! So stay tuned!! πŸ™‚

With that, here’s to a VERY FABULOUS evening!! πŸ˜‰

Happy New Year!!!

Good evening!

I know that to say “Happy New Year” on January 10th is a little johnny-come-lately, but I figured that it is better late than never!! So…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

2012 was a pretty great year for a lot of great changes for both my sweetie and myself, and I personally am very excited to see what 2013 has in store for us!!!

As you may already know, my sweetie and I have both had gastric bypass surgery this past year, and my sweetie has lost a little more than 150 pounds. I have lost almost 95 pounds. I only throw that little tidbit in this evening because I know a lot of my friends are curious – you are, aren’t you!! Yeah – I knew it!!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I did something ABSOLUTELY INSANE tonight, that I am SERIOUSLY-CRAZY-SUPER-EXCITED about!! I have just purchased about 500 like-brand-spanking-new books!!! WHOA!!! and it only cost me $100 dollars!! I can hear some of you saying, “like you really needed any more books???” Ok, so no, I don’t NEED any more books, but I’ve got a plan!! and I am going to keep my plan under my toup’ for a little while! (BTW, that is toupee for those of you who I may have just confused the heck out of!!!)

What else?? Well, Christmas was pretty cool!! My sweetie went above and beyond in the gift-giving department. Everything that he got me made me feel uber-girly, and I LOVED every single gift I got this year. My sweetie got me:

Urban Decay's Naked Eye Pallette

Plus my sisters got me a really cute Santa at his toy workbench – SOOOOOO CUTE!!Β  and a two foot Christmas tree COVERED in Hallmark Santa ornaments – ABSOLUTELY INGENIOUS!!!

So, all-in-all, it was an AWESOME Christmas!!!

Anyway, I have a whole slew of chores that I still need to get done this evening before I get to go to bed soooo…

Here is to a FABULOUS evening!! ;-)

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Good evening!

Whew! Things have been fairly busy here, but I wanted to stop in the middle of my to-do list filled evening to touch base with you and let you know how everything is going here!!

This past weekend, my sweetie and I got the opportunity to go with our sister, Nette, and our niece and nephew, Megan and Morgan, and a few of their little friends to a really cool pumpkin patch out in the country! It was pretty cool in that they had a really large and intricate corn maze, tractor rides, pumpkin chucking, corn shooting, a zip line, a pitch black maze, mountain ‘o hay bale, and all sorts of neat things for the kids to do!! Jason and I really did have a lot of fun! It was perfect weather, the sun was shining, and the kids all had a great time too!!

In all honesty, I am still really beat from this weekend, and I have what feels like a mountain of things on my to-do list that needs to get done tonight, because my busy week is really just getting started!! So, instead of cutting it too short, I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of the pics from the pumpkin patch with you!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!!! ;-)

Bariatric Surgery Update!

Good morning!

I know it has been a while since I have posted, and I thought this morning would be a good time to give you an update on how everything is going!

I had surgery a week prior to this past Tuesday, and everything went really well. I was admitted to the hospital at about 12:30 in the afternoon and was immediately taken back by myself to the pre-op room to get prepped for surgery. Once my prep was done, my sweetie and two youngest sisters, Jennifer and Trina, came back to keep me preoccupied before I headed back for the moment we have been working for so long to get to, surgery! I was so thankful to have them there with me, because in all honesty I was really scared!! Well, it was no time before Jason and the girls got back there that we all were having a terrible bout of the giggles, and I was sure my nurses were going to start telling us all to behave ourselves!!! πŸ˜‰

Before I knew it, the time had passed, and my anesthesiologist had come to let me know that the surgeons and staff were all ready for me, and it was officially my turn for my procedure!! The anesthesiologist gave me something in my IV that almost immediately made my nervousness go straight away, and I told Jason and the girls that I would see them soon. I have to tell you that looking into those three sets of eyes as I was wheeled out of the room was probably the ABSOLUTE HARDEST thing I have had to do to get ready for this surgery!! I really HATED to leave them in there! You can’t help but have a moment where you think that you just might not ever get to see them again, but thankfully, as you well know, God had other plans for us!!! πŸ˜‰

Well, as I was rolling down the hall on my gurney, I started to really feel relaxed (thank God for whatever it was the anesthesiologist had given me!!!), and all I remember thinking was 1. I hope none of my co-workers see me like this, you know – bra-less (hahahaha!!), and 2. Light. Light. Light. Light. as I was passing underneath the lights in the hallway – THAT was how relaxed I had gotten. Once I got into the operating room, I remember them asking me if I could slide onto the operating table, which I did, and then I remember looking around thinking – Hey, this doesn’t look like ANY operating room you see on TV!!! Next thing I know I was out!!

I don’t remember dreaming anything, or really any thoughts of any kind running through my head while I was unconscious during surgery, but what I do remember is thinking I was dreaming, because every time I opened, and then re-opened my eyes it was like I was seeing a different scene, with a different room, or different people. I remember that people were talking to me, but I don’t remember what they were saying. I do remember distinctly opening my eyes at one point, and calling out to my mamma – I figured since it was a dream, she just might show up, and at that point I was really hurting and needed her to come fix me up. I also remembering asking a nurse why it was taking so long to get my surgery started, and her telling me that they were all done! Well, that figures, but thankfully it was all a blur, and I really don’t remember waking up until I was actually in my hospital room!

When I first remember waking up, it was because I saw as clear as a bell that Jason, Jennifer, and Trina had walked into the room, and I was happy as a CLAM to see them!!!! Then I was out again! πŸ˜‰ The remainder of the night was more of the same, in and out of consciousness, thinking I was dreaming the whole darn thing, and I just kind of waited for the alarm to go off so I could get up and get ready to go to work! I do remember Jason being upset at the nurses because I was in pain, and he wanted them to deal with it now, and not after shift change completed, and then falling back to sleep, being nauseous and trying to throw up (unsuccessfully (thank goodness)), my girlfriends BobbieJo, and Julie showing up, and BobbieJo walking straight up to me asking me if she could pray with me, and then falling asleep during the middle of the prayer, I think I walked twice that evening – the first time only making it barely out of my room before the nurse turned me around, and back to bed I went, the second time being at 2 in the morning because the nurse hadn’t realized there was a certain distance I had to walk or my surgeon would have a fit in the morning, but again – it really was all a blur.

When I finally awoke enough from my stupor to realize I wasn’t dreaming, I saw my sisters sitting next to my bed, and I asked Jennifer, “Where did BobbieJo and Julie go?”, and she just laughed at me and told me that it was the next morning, and that they had gone home the night before! My only response was, “Man, I told you guys I miss everything!!!”
πŸ˜‰

The next day and a half, before I got to go home, was pretty routine! I napped a lot, took a lot of walks, had more tests done, visited with all of my visitors, including my girls, Jennifer and Trina! I napped some more, etc. etc. I think you get the picture!! Jennifer, Trina, and my brother-in-law, Austin, stayed with me until the evening of the second night when they had to head back to Roseburg. I am so thankful that they got to come down, they really did help make my hospital-time more fun!!! and I am sure with my fancy hospital gown, they got more glimpses of their oldest sister’s bootie then they ever really wanted to see, but for me that is what made it more like it was a slumber party!! πŸ˜‰

Jason and I then spent the evening by ourselves, just talking, holding hands, walking, dreaming about the future, and of course with me doing some more napping!! πŸ˜‰

By Thursday at about 11:30 am, I was home, hanging out with Jason, Faye, and Sophie, doing my “Only 3 Jobs”: sipping, walking, and breathing!! I had discovered that I had gained a little more than 10 pounds during my hospital stay from all of the surgical gas they literally blow you up like a balloon with, and then all of the IV fluids they fill you up on afterwards!!! (which thankfully, I had been pre-warned about because if they hadn’t warned me, I would have probably FREAKED out about!!! – WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT I JUST HAD GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY AND IMMEDIATELY GAINED 10 POUNDS????? LOL!!) πŸ˜‰

Now, that brings me to a little more than a week later, still doing my “Only 3 jobs”, and feeling pretty good!! I still get tired rather quickly, but my spirit is wanting to go-go-GO!!! I am still on a full liquid diet, until next Tuesday, which is really getting old, but I have lost 60 pounds in total from my highest weight, and 10 of those pounds are from after surgery (not including the 10 pounds I had gained during my hospital stay), so I think I am off to a great start!!! I am still off of work for the next two weeks, and if all goes well, I will get a thumbs up to return back to work – ready and raring to go!!!

Before I get ready to sign off, I really want to take a moment to say thank you to my sweetie, Jason! He has been unbelievably supportive during this entire process, but most especially during my hospital stay, and recovery this past week and a half. I would not being doing so well right now if it weren’t for all that he has done for me while I have been recouping!!! He has taken me for walks to make sure I was getting my exercise, taken me for drives when I just needed to get out of the house, picked up whatever I needed to keep me happy, and entertained, from wherever he felt he needed to. He bundled me up when I was freezing, even letting me steal his socks, which you must know are THE BEST kind when your feet just will not warm up, sat up with me when I couldn’t sleep, tolerated any of my whining & moaning, and even made sure I was taking my medication or using my breathing exerciser thingy!!! (I really do know that thing has a name, but for the life of me I can’t remember it at the moment!)

Love,

I really appreciate all you have done for me – I seriously wouldn’t not have been able to do all of this without your love and encouragement as you stood by my side and continually held my hand, both physically and emotionally!! I love you, and because God has placed you in my life, all those many years ago, I know that I am SERIOUSLY BLESSED!!! πŸ˜‰

Love, love, love, your grateful wife!!! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I am sorry for the extremely long post today, but it has been a while and I know that I have had a lot of people rooting for me, and wanted to make sure that you know how things are going here!!! Thank you so much for all of your kind encouraging words, and I hope to have a lot more successes to report in future posts!!!

Here is to a FABULOUS day! ;-)

Β If you want to have a different life, you have to live differently!

BTW – that “breathing exerciser thingy” is called an Incentive Spirometer – I knew I would remember eventually!!

A Good Day for a Great Sunday!

Good afternoon!

My sweetie and I are having a really great Sunday, and thought we would just share a bit of it with you! πŸ™‚

My sissy, Alex has asked that I share a couple of pictures of Jason and I, and here I am being a good girl and getting them out today before I forget!! πŸ™‚

I knew my sweetie was a hottie before, but he sure is looking good!!! You go, Babes!!! πŸ˜‰

and yes, here is your truly!! πŸ˜‰

and here we are together!! I love you, Sis!! I hope these pics makes you happy!! πŸ˜‰

On a side note, there are only two days until surgery, which is rather surreal!! I am going to spend the rest of the day getting some chores done around the house and have some quality time with my sweetie, and my two hair four-legged girls! Tomorrow, my sweetie and I are going with a group of friends to hang out at the ocean, and later tomorrow evening my two youngest sisters will get here to spend the next couple days with us while I am having surgery! YEAH!!! I love my peeps!!! πŸ˜‰ So, long story short, I will have plenty to keep me busy between now and 2:30 on Tuesday!! πŸ˜‰

Here is to a FABULOUS evening! ;-)

My First Visit to Benihanas!

Good evening!

Today my sweetie and I got the opportunity to go up to Beaverton and spend some time with our family from up north! We met up with my aunt Alice, my Aunt Flo, and her sweetie, Ryan!! I was sooooo excited, because I knew we were going to have such a GREAT time!! We ALWAYS do!!

Anyway, a couple of months ago, I had contacted the aunts and asked if we could make a date to get together, it had been much too long. My aunt Alice suggested that we all get together at the Benihana’s up in Beaverton. Neither Flo nor I had ever been there, so of course we jumped at the chance, and today was the day of our get-together!!

After we all met up at Benihana’s , the hostess took us to our table which was dining room table height, and it was was built around a gigantic grill. Still not really knowing what to expect, we all sat down, ordered what we wanted and did a little visiting before our chef appeared.

Our chef’s name was Felix, and right from the get-go, I knew that Felix was going to be a character!! He had a hysterical laugh, some of the corniest jokes, was super charming, and he made our experience SO MUCH FUN!!! – OH, and did I mention he liked to sing??? Well, he did!! and he made sure to serenade us throughout the entire experience, it truly was SO MEMORABLE!!!

Here is a YouTube clip of our Felix in action:

Not only that, but the food that he prepared was SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! SERIOUSLY!! I had the chicken yakisoba, which I have to admit may have been the best yakisoba I had ever eaten. That came with grilled mixed vegetables, that had this AMAZING ginger sauce – YUM!!! Vegetable fried rice, which was PERFECTION! and a side salad with a ginger salad dressing, which was so good that Jason and I bought an order of just the dressing to make sure we had some in our fridge for our salads at home!!!

Jason and I got there knowing we were going to have a good time, and we really did!! I just love hanging out with my family, and add that to trying something new, like Benihana’s , it added up to a day of sweet bliss!! I just ADORE Saturdays like this!!!

It might have also helped thatΒ Benihana’s is located right next to a Nordstrom Rack! I had never been to one before so, after we all said our goodbyes, my sweetie and I went over there “Just to look around”. YEAH RIGHT??? I ended up leaving with two pairs of THE CUTEST shoes you have EVER seen, two cardigans both with uber-feminine details, and 3 decorative headbands, which you have to know I am just a SUCKER for!!! (I will share pics of these treasure tomorrow!!)

God bless Jason, he insisted on carrying everything, including my purse throughout the store, and was super patient and even gave me style advice for anything I looked at! Let’s just say, he earned HUGE, HUGE, H-U-G-E brownie points there!! Thank you, Honey, I really appreciate you!!! πŸ˜‰

Well, that is all for now, I will leave you to go get ready for an early night to bed!

Here’s to a FABULOUS evening!! πŸ˜‰

β€œIf you want to have a different life, you have to live differently!”

Randomness Tuesday!

Good evening!

I thought I would share with you some random thoughts on this randomness Tuesday!

I woke up this morning, with my first alarm, which is not something I have a tendency to do. I usually let the first alarm wake me up, but the second one, that goes off a half an hour later is the one that says, “Ok, you have been lazing around in bed long enough – get up!!” Well, today I got up with the first one. You see, I had this thought that was running over and over through my mind, and it was saying:

“If you want a different life, live differently.”

Simple, sweet, and powerfully true!!

This was a message that apparently my subconscious thought I needed to hear, and my conscious self has been taking it to heart all day today!!

So, I got up with the first alarm, because it was different then I normally do, hopped in the shower first thing, and I was ready, having eaten a healthy breakfast and all, and I got to work a little over half an hour earlier than normal. I concentrated on staying focused at work, and trying to find the very little things to do better than I normally do. It made for a pretty good day! I even got a 15 minute walk in, which may not sound impressive, but when you sit confined like veal in a small cubicle all day, every day, a 15 minute walk, out in nature, with one of my girlfriends really means a lot!!

Anyway, after work today, I knew I had to head over to Nordstroms to pick up some more of my facial products, which I did, and then I picked up two eye shadows that the old me would not have tried before!!

Jason sent my camera off to Texas to be fixed or replaced. I don’t care which as long as my baby returns to me in one piece and in working order!!! I really miss taking pictures!!!

Tonight would have been a great time to have my camera, because in my quest to have a different life by living differently, when my sweetie called me while at work and asked if we could have a spontaneous dinner, I jumped at the chance. I am sooo glad that I did!! Dinner was delicious, and I haven’t had a chance to hang out with my sis, Nette and her kids in AGES!! Megan had basketball practice tonight, and she asked me if I could go watch, normally I would have made excuses, because I knew that my to-do list for this evening was just so long, but again, if I want a different life, I have to live differently. So, you guessed it, I agreed to go with her and Nette to her practice. Nette is one of her coaches. It was so much fun to watch Megan!! She is really growing up so fast, and she is such a girly-girl, and yet still such a sporty girl that she is such a hoot!!! I really love her so much, and sometimes I feel like I am missing all of these special moments with the kiddos, so I am really so thankful for my new attitude about living!! AND I can’t wait to have my camera back because I would have had SOOOO MANY GREAT pics of the girls practicing!!!

I am finally home for the evening, a little later than I had expected, but feeling really blessed! I still have a little time to get a couple of chores crossed off of the to-do list before I crawl into bed early this evening and get some reading done before bed!!

What a good life. I am very thankful for new beginnings. I know it is still early, but it is looking like 2012 is really going to be a GREAT year!!! πŸ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS evening! :-)

Happy New Year!

Good evening, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Jason and I rung in the new year by spending it with our good friends, Dawn and Errin! We had dinner, chatted, giggled, crocheted, played a few serious rounds of Wii sports, watched a movie, and really just had a fun time. Jason and I didn’t even get home until almost 3 in the morning!!Β  We played Wii so hard last evening, that when Jay and I woke up this morning, we realized that we were REALLY sore!! It motivated us to play again today!! πŸ˜‰

Jason and I were able to get our place almost completely cleaned like we were hoping to do, which is really help make this weekend feel extra special!! We have so much hope for this new year. Out with the old and in with the new! I feel a lot of changes coming on this year. Things that Jason and I have been talking about for a long time, but have never felt it was time to make said changes. I think this year will be the year to take the leap of faith and create the life that we have always dreamed of making. I can’t wait to see how it all falls in place!

I am so thankful for all that God has blessed Jason and I with, and am certain that he will be with us throughout this new year as well!!

How have you rung in the New Year? Do you have any plans or resolutions for 2012? I would love to hear from you in the comments section!

I wish you all a VERY HAPPY and a VERY BLESSEDΒ  2012!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! :-)
