The Chunky Dunker’s Club, Week 6

Good evening!

Welcome to week 6, of the Chunky Dunker’s Club!!! Can you believe it has been Six weeks already??

Every week I post a new Chunky Dunker’s article ever Wednesday evening, and you have the opportunity to comment, and cheer each other as you each go through your journey to get fit and healthy!!! We will discuss hints, tips, and ideas on losing weight, staying motivated, and achieving your fitness goals, whether that is to lose 5 pounds, to do 10 sit-ups, or just incorporate some healthy habits into your daily life!!

Tonight’s topic: Staying with the Program When the Program Gets Tough

We are at six weeks in our get fit journey, and I don’t know about you, but there have been a few times that I want to throw in the towel. WHY? I don’t know, there are lots of reason at different times:

  • I’m tired
  • What’s the point?
  • This is taking so much time
  • The weight isn’t coming off fast enough
  • This is too hard
  • Blah! Blah! Blah!

Have you dealt with any of this yet?? Or is it just me? I thought tonight would be a good time to talk about this. To get this out in the open so that we can push through this sixth week so we can keep going on our journey to get fit. How can we make the lulls easier??

  • Get support, reach out and talk to someone who will genuinely cheer you on and help motivate you to keep going!
  • Do at least one thing that you didn’t think you could do before. Once you accomplish that task it will empower you to keep going!
  • Change it up! Is the reason you are wanting to quit because you are bored? Try a new activity, recipe, or something that you have been wanting to do but haven’t taken the time to do yet!
  • Look at the “old you” versus the “new you”. For example, the old me would have eaten that whole box of cookies in one sitting, changes to, the new me was able to eat just two cookies, and walked away.
  • Find something fun to do as exercise, so you trick yourself into burning more calories. For example, tomorrow night I am starting a belly dancing class, something fun, but something that will also get me moving!!
  • Remember why you wanted to get fit in the first place. Me wanting to be able to walk all over Paris without getting tired is great motivation for me to keep going!

What are your thoughts on sticking through to your journey of fitness? Have you had any inclinations of quitting, or giving up? What were some of your reason? Do you have any ideas to add to help the group keep on keeping on?

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and how all of you are doing. If there is anyone new who has just stumbled onto this blog, feel free to join the discussion in the comments section. This is not a closed group – the more the merrier!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! 😉

I have been walking more this week. It has been kind of hard this last week because I was home alone and I could do whatever I wanted, but I have been trying to get moving more again. I only had two sodas this last week and I am trying to get to were I don’t have any in any given week, so I am still working on that.

    1. Alexa Moody

That is great news Trina! Sodas whether diet or not are not good for us and only cause us to gain weight and/or affects your the nerves in your body the wrong way.

      1. Trina

I like drinking sodas, but I have had them so much lately, I am kind of getting tired of them. I have been drinking more water which is ok with me.

Hi sister! I have been staying in line with my new way of eating and have increased my water intake. More to try to relieve the swelling in my ankles and feet.

Yes I did get it and its still in the box. I was thinking about getting it out and seeing what I needed to do, but I am literally exhausted. I changed my work hours from 630-3 now. Because all my customers are on the east coast. So I was up at 4am. OIE VEY! I will definitely get it out on Saturday morning.

Ooh, that is a rough schedule!! Well, when you do get it out, let me know what you think of it! I was thinking I could put one of those things under my desk at work, and use it will programming!!!

that and/or sit on a balance ball instead of my chair, but not too professional looking in the office! Maybe on the days I telecommute from home, the balance ball would work!! 😉

      2. Alexa Moody

There is a guy at my work that uses an exercise ball instead of a chair at work. I bet that is better on the back and butt.

      3. Alexa Moody

I actually don’t think you would. with putting your feet out and to the side, you balance yourself out.

OH, well that is good to know!! I will let you know if I try that!!! 😉

I do have to get back into the pool again! That is such a fun way to exercise, and I just haven’t taken the time to do it yet!!!!

I had a peddler before. It was ok. I didnt really like it too much. Its too low of an impact on my legs. I walk around work all the time so I get a better workout with walking. Also I have done the exercise ball at the desk and that helps big time. Helps my lower back and butt as well.

Oh that is good to know about the balance ball! Now I know I want to give that a try! I will have to have Jason blow mine back up again!!! 😉 Thanks, sis!!

I have been burning my candle at both ends, so to speak to keep up with everything I am trying to keep committed to, that today, while I was doing my 20 minute guided meditation, I fell asleep!! SHEESH!! I am definitely going to bed earlier than normal tonight!!! 😉

    1. Alexa Moody

Actually sis there is nothing wrong with fallling asleep during that time. You still are listening to it subconsciously.

Yes, he will go in – I hate seeing him in pain. and you know with his high pain threshold, with him wincing and ouching, it has to hurt badly!! NOT COOL!!

My girlfriend down here makes this awesome squeezed lemon and minced up garlic (the fresh kind). I will ask my girlfriend for the recipe again.

    1. Jason

they Should be OK with it. as long as you don’t have some great big Hairy guy taking the pics

      1. Alexa Moody

Do you really want him to be there during the beginning stage of your belly dancing class?

    1. Alexa Moody

I posted just a couple of days ago. I find that I need to have peace and no interuptions while blogging. So that makes it a bit tough. But I love it and want to increase my blogging.

    2. christinaville Post author

Yes, television, and kiddos can really be a distraction!! but I have to tell you, I really do love reading your blog!! It is so authentically you! It is like having you right beside me again!! 😉

    1. Alexa Moody

I just called her, she is going to hop back on, and Jennifer although is back from California, is not at home at the moment, and neither is Alice!

      1. christinaville Post author

Yes, of course!! Trina is actually doing homework tonight, so I can’t fault her at all! She told me this week that she wants to be a curator at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC!! I told her she had better make sure she has a chic room ready at all times for “visitors”!! HEE! HEE!! 😉

Not sunny. It’s dark and raining. I have the back door open listening to the rain and wind chimes. It’s so awesome! You need to check out my FB for some of the pics I posted tonight. So you can see a little bit of my world right now. I am so much happier being in Phoenix! I cannot believe what a difference it has made for me.

  6. Alexa Moody

Well kids… I am ready to head to my room to get in a couple pages of reading before I knock out.
I love you all and here is to much success this coming week with our lifestyle changes.
Cannot wait to hear from you all again!

  7. Jennifer

Hey everybody. Sorry I wasn’t on earlier. I was grocery shopping for the house and I had to go around giving out the items that people wanted me to buy for them. I was very busy with that. This week I did tons and tons of walking. I have the pictures and the sunburn to prove it. OUCH!!! I checked my weight to see if I have improved a little, but it was only very, very little. 🙁 I did sweat’n to the oldies with Trina before I left. Hopefully I did enough moving around to impress my doc in a few weeks.
