Learning Spontaneity!

Happy Halloween Chickies!!!

You might be surprised to hear that I sometimes have problems with being spontaneous – shocking, I am sure!!! LOL!! (YES, Sweetie, that was a joke!) πŸ˜‰

Well, I took a large leap of “Look at me, I can be spontaneous”, and took an impromptu road trip down to my family’s place down in Roseburg/Winston. I knew we would be cutting it close because we couldn’t stay for more than one night, and I knew that I would have a BUNCH of stuff to get done before bed on Sunday night, not to mention try to squeeze in a visit with everybody down there so we don’t make anyone feel left out or neglected. WHEW!!! That is a LOT to try and cram into just a few hours of daylight!!

Anyway, I would LOVE to tell you that everything went without a hitch, BUT… we had set up our dogs with bed, food, and water so that they could spend an evening by themselves. As Jason and I were leaving the house, Jason had been a little grouchy because he was coming down with a bug, and wasn’t feeling very well, and as I was pulling out of the driveway, Jason yells, “STOP THE CAR! I’M NOT GOING!” When I turned to looked at him to find out what happened, he had already hopped out of the car, and when I spun around to see what happened, I see that one of our chihuahuas has somehow gotten out and was trying to follow our car go down the drive. OMG – I would have FREAKED if we would have left for the night, and came home to only one dog!!! Long story short, pack up the dogs, they are going with us – they can sleep in the car overnight!

I would LOVE to tell you that everything went perfectly on this little adventure, but by the time we got to our family’s place Jason was full on sick, AKA the largest-man-baby EVER!!!! LOL!! and one of my sister’s were sick too – so I figured the sickies could keep each other company!! And when bedtime came, I just did NOT have the heart to make the girls’ sleep in the van by themselves, and because my sisters live in an apartment that won’t let animals through the doors, I bit the bullet, and my youngest sister and I slept in the van all night – YES – I SLEPT IN MY VAN — AND ON PURPOSE!!!

HAHAHA! Ok, I know it might sound like I am complaining, but we really did have a lot of fun! Ok, everyone besides maybe my sickie husband, Jason!

So, we made it home and tonight while we were all lazing around the house, we had a quick visit from some of our favorite Halloween kiddies tonight – thank goodness we had some dum-dum suckers on hand!! We don’t usually keep candy on hand, and what kind of auntie and uncle would we be if we couldn’t deliver for Halloween????

Anyway, all is good – I am getting excited about sleeping in my own bed this evening!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!! πŸ˜‰

Dreaming of Fabulousness!!!

Fabulousness, where have you gone??? I have had a rough, tough, knocked-around kind of day, and I am sure that some of my girls out there may have had a day like mine. So, to keep tonight’s post short and sweet I simply say, Fabulessness, come find us lovely ladiesΒ  and sprinkle some of your sparkly goodness on us !!!

May we all have a FABULOUS evening!! πŸ˜‰

Putting My House On a Diet!

I am seriously thinking about putting my house on a diet. We have a really small place, and seemingly a whole TON of stuff. OK, I know this seems like a REALLY random thought, but let me tell you what brought this on. I have a friend who is a financial adviser for, let’s just say, for people who have WAAAAAY more money than I have. Anyway, he sent me a whole bunch of information today on how I can make my financial dreams come true, and HOLY MOLY!! I realized I have a lot of work to do, the first HUGE thing I need to do is to get myself COMPLETELY out of debt, AGAIN (I have done this once before believe it or not!) Once that is done, I have to figure out how to figure out how to live with only 50% of my income!!! AAAAGH!!! Can you imagine??? So I either have to learn how to live with a whole lot less, or I have to learn how to make more money!! Which brings me back to putting my house on a diet. While I am trying to decide what small business I can start in my free time, I thought I would try selling some of my literally hundreds of unused items from our house. Kind of like an online garage sale!! I am not sure how to make this happen though – so I thought I would just throw it out to the universe and see if maybe anyone out there had any ideas??? Let me know in the comment section – I would be greatly appreciative for the help!!! πŸ™‚

Thanks, and have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

Penelope

I just finished watching a magical movie, Penelope! The premise is that a little girl is born with the face of a pig because of a curse that was put on her family generations ago, and only true love can break the curse! It has always seemed like a far-fetched kind of a scenario, but curiosity finally got the best of me, and my sweetie sat down with me this evening and watched this film. How SHOCKED we were!! What a great and heart-touching story, the scenery was bright and colorful, and Penelope’s wardrobe was sweet, feminine, with a hint of vintage loveliness! This movie definitely had that kind of an Amelie/Pushing Daisies kind of artistic imaginative quality to it!!! This will be one move that will have to be added to our collection.

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

Swimming with the Kiddos!

I just got done swimming with family!!! I LOVE doing that, especially since playing with the kids is THE BEST DISGUISE for exercising!!! WHEW!! These kiddos REALLY WORK ME OUT!!!! Man, I am soooo sore, but so HAPPY!!!

Anyway, I heard a Bible verse in the car on the way to the office this morning, and it has been running through my mind all day. The verse was:

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Proverbs 27:17 (New Living Translation)

All day, I was thinking I think this is a verse that I have to share with my husband because somehow it meant he was lacking something and I was going to be able to share this verse to help open his eyes, and I would be the hero that helps “fix” him. Well, as the day went on, I realized that this verse was really presented to me this morning to open my eyes to my own flaws. I need to learn to lean on my girlfriends more. I sometimes have a tendency to shut myself off from people for fear of getting hurt, and this verse tells me that if I have faith and let people in, they can actually “sharpen” me and make me a better person. What a great lesson! Thanks, I needed to hear that!!

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

A New Day!

I have been MIA this week, but it hasn’t been for naught! Last weekend my sisters and I went to the Portland Women of Faith conference, which was a BLAST, as always!! I also had a life-changing Ah-Ha moment for myself during that weekend and it has caused me to! I have had many of these in my life, but this one has really rocked my world.

I spent the early years of my life trying to be what I thought everyone expected of me, and in all honesty, I have also spent the latter years of my life doing the exact same thing.

It’s impossible to try and be something you’re not.

I’m not wild.

Matter-of-fact, I am a little bit of a nerd.

I like to think I am funny, but silly is really more like it.

I tend to be a homebody.

I thoroughly enjoy a good cleaning day, I find real satisfaction in it’s completion.

I dream about being a mama. It is what I know I was put on earth to do.

I also know that I am destined to be wealthy. Not in a ‘MWA-HA-HA-HAAA I’m gonna take over the world’ kind of way, but in a ‘Now that I true freedom, how can I help the world?’ kind of way.

I like all things fancy/sparkly/girly.

I could live in my comfy jeans, a tee, and darling ‘little’ (size 11) ballet flats.

I like the juxtaposition of comfy, cozy, glamor.

I really love following fashion, but being a plus-sized woman it is not always easy to implement what I know to be beautiful, so I dabble in interior decorating.

I come alive when it is sunny.

I am Team Edward ALL THE WAY!

I clean like a crazy person before I leave for vacation so that I can come home to a perfect house.

I organize like a crazy person.

I don’t know how to be anyone else.

God made me uniquely Christina.

I worked really hard this last year.

My focus was me, and I honestly had almost given up on myself.

This weekend taught me that: First and foremost, God has not left me, nor will He ever, and secondly I was reminded that God has given me unique talents,Β  He gave them to me on purpose, so GO PUT THEM TO USE!!!

I am not athletic.

I love to spend the afternoon lost in a good book. (SHOCKER, I know!!)

And it turns out that just being Christina is turning out to be pretty good.

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

What to Say? What to Say?

Sometimes coming up with topics for a blog is not the easiest thing in the world to do! I always want to have something witty and intelligent to say, but honestly tonight, I am drawing a blank!!!

So, here is a thought for the day:

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you’ve said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” – Maya Angelou

Tonight I spent 2-1/2 hours at the beauty salon getting my hair cut and straightened!!! Tomorrow night I will be sharing pictures!!! (I hope it doesn’t end up too short!!!) πŸ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS evening! πŸ˜‰

Happy Tuesday!

It is only Tuesday and work is pretty rough!! BUT God bless my husband!!! He totally came to my rescue this afternoon – YES, I do need to be rescued every once in a while!! He met me with one of my favorite interior design magazines, a small Canoli, and he made my favorite feel good food – spaghetti!! Thank you, Baby!!!

I am working on some new brainstorming for some future endeavors. I will keep you posted after I make some hard and fast decisions on working on creating a more creative future for myself. My goal is to just start where I am, and see where the good Lord is going to take me! I know that there has to be more to life than what I am doing now – not that I am not ABSOLUTELY GRATEFUL for what I have achieved so far in my life, but I am ready for some new adventures!!! Wish me luck!! πŸ˜‰

Starting this week, my sweetie and I now have two swim nights every week, which we can tell is already going to be a lot of fun. One night is with one sis-in law and her family, and the other night is my other sis-in-law and her family!! Have I ever mentioned that it is SOOOO MUCH FUN to live close to the fam!! I have a few more fam members that I wish would move up here – wink, wink, nudge, nudge, you know who you are!!! LOL!! πŸ˜‰

Have a FABULOUS EVENING!

Happy Friday!!!

Yeah! I am sooooo thankful that Friday has finally arrived!! YEAH!!! Anyone else needing this Friday as much as I do??? Not only that, but my boss gave me the thumbs up to leave 2-1/2 hours early!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!! πŸ˜‰

Does anyone have any great plans for this weekend?? I don’t have anything too terribly exciting planned, but we do have a couple of fun things going on. Date night tonight, a game of frisbee golf in the park tomorrow, and who knows…

Sorry, my post tonight was interrupted by a call from my sis-in-law! You see my sweetie has size 17/18 feet, and to find him shoes is quite an undertaking. So, everyone in the family knows that when they find shoes that size, especially if they are on sale they are to either pick them up, or call us and we will go check them out. So, out the door we flew, to the other side of town, and unfortunately, the shoes that were found were too narrow! DARN!!!

Anyway, since we were on that side of town, and it is our date night, so we decided to do a little book shopping after a dinner out. NOW YOU KNOW I WILL NEVER TURN DOWN AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOP FOR BOOKS!!!

The books that I picked up are:

Before You Put That On

Well, I am going to go watch a movie with my sweetie, and start this WEEKEND!!! YEAH!!!!

Have a FABULOUS evening!
